The Sound of Silence

37 3 1

Weight settled
In your bones;
Heaviness unmatched
With the strongest stones;

A quiet ache gnaws
At your core,
A feeling you
Just can't ignore.

An empty room
With no one around;
The silence echoes
With every sound;

The absence
Of a hand to hold;
Feeling lost
And alone, untold.

Loneliness strikes
At any time;
In a crowded room, or
In a quiet night.

A sensation
That can't be escaped;
A dark cloud
That can't be shaped.

A yearning
For connection and love;
A deep desire
For companionship from above.

Hope that
Someday, somewhere;
Someone will come
And show they care.

Until then, we
Bear the weight;
And learn to find joy
In our own fate.

For even in
The darkest of nights,
There's a glimmer
Of hope, of light.
