The butterfly mansion started up for yet another day, stirring the still asleep Shinobu awake alongside it. As usual she went through her morning, almost automatically at this point, the same routine she went through every morning. Wake up, bathe, drink the wisteria tea and have breakfast with Aoi and Kanao. Although this morning brought a small yet very welcome change with the addition of Muichiro, he didn't talk much but his presence was welcome. She'd never admit it, but she'd grown really fond of the boy despite him only being here for a few hours.

"Muichiro-kun did you sleep well?" Shinobu asked trying to break the silence looming over them as they ate. Kanao didn't speak much to begin with and Aoi seemed almost intimidated by his presence.

"Yes...Thank you...did you?" He asked nervously, trying his best to continue the conversation.

"I did, thank you for asking. How about you two, Aoi, Kanao?"

Kano just nodded with that weird look on her face she'd had since returning from final selection. Aoi being more talkative offered an actual response.

"Yes Shinobu-sama, although I thought I heard one of the triplets crying but when I checked on them they were all asleep." Aoi replied.

"Hmm...how odd, maybe they just went back to sleep."

Unsatisfied but not wanting to press anymore Aoi just nodded in agreement. The two of them made conversation until they'd finished eating and all went there separate ways to start their days.

4 hours later
Shinobu was in the garden with Muichiro trying to jog his memory again, pointing out cloud after cloud hoping he might recognise them.

"How about that one, what does that one look like?"

"...Flower..."

"And that one?"

"...Horse..."

This had been going on for 15 minutes now, unsatisfied with the lack of progress she decided to try something else.

"So Muichiro-kun, about last night...What happened?" She asked cautiously, unsure if this was the right time to talk about it or not.

"...I...Don't want to" he said looking visibly uncomfortable.

"I promise I won't tell anyone else, it'll be our little

"Please...no"

"I'm not judging you, I used to have nightmares as well. My sister used to sing me that song." Shinobu said saddened at the thought of Kanae.

Muichiro seemed to ease up a bit after hearing this, and began to speak.

"I saw...my mother...I think...And...my brother."

"Your brother?"

"He looked exactly like me...like a..."

"Like a twin?"

"Yeah...like a twin..."

He stayed silent after that,Shinobu didn't push any further then she already had. She knew she overstepped, if someone had pushed her like that it likely would've just provoked her instead of encouraging her to open up.

"Thank you for telling me, Muichiro-kun."

His gaze remained at the floor, as they sat in silence.

"I'm not sure what else to try, the cloud technique worked once, and I got lucky last night with the dinner. He's remembering a lot more himself now, maybe I just have to help him when he needs it." She thought as Muichiro stood up and walked back inside, presumably to be alone.

Not wanting to push him further then she already has she decided to just leave it for today and went back to her other patients. Surprisingly the water hashira was sat in one of the beds, his arm bandaged.

"Ara Ara Tomioka-san, hurt are we?" She teased

"Yes" he replied looking directly at her, catching her off guard a little.

"I never noticed how pretty his eyes are." She thought before composing herself.

"Wow Tomioka-san, I think that's the first time you looked at me when speaking." She said in a mocking tone.

"Why would I look at you? I already know what you look like. You have a very distinct face."

"I think that's the most I've ever heard you say, we'll done Tomioka-san" she mocked unsure of what to make of his words.

"Sorry." He said solemnly.

"For what Tomioka-san?" She asked him, receiving no answer

"Ahh, have you used all your words for the day, speak up Tomioka-san, you'll never get anywhere if you don't communicate now will you." She said trying to coax a response out of him.

"Sorry, I don't know what to say to you."

"Just me or in general?"

"Just you." He replied, confusing her even more as he spoke more to her then he did anyone else. Sensing her confusion he continued.

"I...want to speak to you...I don't want to talk to the others." He said unsure of his own words.

"Oh, and why's that?"

"The others...don't really...like me."

"Maybe that's because you don't talk to them, I'm sure if you had a conversation with them they'd like you." She said, resisting the urge to tease him and say she didn't like him either.

He thought about her words for a second, a small smile appearing on his face.

"I will, thanks Kocho." He said standing up and hugging her.

Shocked by his actions, she just hugged him back. Watching as he left, despite not being discharged.

"What a strange man." She thought "I should stop him though, he needs to be examined before leaving."

"Tomioka-san, I need to examine you injuries before you can leave."

"Oh...sorry"

She just laughed at his response, taking him up to her office and making sure he was okay to leave.

"You need to take 3 days rest before training or going on any missions ok?"

"Ok."

Good. You can leave now Tomioka-san"

"Thanks" he said, hugging her again as he left.

"He hugs like a child" she thought as she watched him leave.

"It was...nice"
