cheong-san quickly spun around, and raised his hand. a teasing smile grew on hae-yi's lips, but it was wiped away when his fist met her nose.

" what the fuck? " hae-yi exclaimed, wincing in pain from the hit. cheong-san looked shocked at himself, staring at his fist and then back to her nose.
" are you okay? " su-hyeok ran over, putting pressure on hae-yi's nose to stop it from bleeding.

" let's go to the nurses' office. " i-sak said, holding hae-yi's hand as su-hyeok placed his hand on her shoulder.
as the trio left the classroom, cheong-san stared after them, an odd feeling in his stomach. he ignored the mutters of his classmates and took his seat at his desk, placing his head in his hands.
...
" okay, your nose is alright now but a bruise may appear in a bit. " the nurse told hae-yi as she sat on one of the beds in the nurses' office. " you three get back to class now please. " she smiled and they stood up and walked back to their class.
as they walked up the stairs, cheong-san appeared. hae-yi rolled her eyes at the sight of him and su-hyeok sent him a look.
" can i talk to hae-yi please? " cheong-san asked, looking at i-sak and su-hyeok, who both nodded at him. su-hyeok squeezed hae-yi's shoulder reassuringly before him and i-sak continued up the stairs and back to class.
hae-yi stared up at cheong-san as he sighed and stood in front of her.
" i'm sorry. " he said quietly.
" what was that? i didn't hear you. " hae-yi responded. she heard him, but just wanted to annoy him. he bit his lip and repeated his apology louder than before.
" don't bother, i know your only apologising because ms park told you to. " the girl scoffed and turned away, about to walk up the stairs when cheong-san grabbed her wrist which made her turn back around to face him.
" she didn't. i mean it, i'm sorry hae-yi. " he repeated, but she didn't respond. looking down at where cheong-san's hand remained on her wrist, she stood silently and awkwardly. cheong-san followed her view down to his hand before letting go and looking down at the floor.
hae-yi hastily walked up the stairs, not looking back at the boy once as she returned to class.

k-pop blasted through hae-yi's headphones as she climbed up the building stairs to her apartment. as she hummed along to the music and walked over to her door, she noticed a small box laying on the floor in front of her with a note attached to it. hae-yi looked around to see if anybody had dropped it but there was nobody around.
hesitantly, she picked it up and read the note.
i'm sorry, and i mean it.
- cheong-san
hae-yi furrowed her eyebrows and put the note in her school blazer pocket before opening the small box. inside was a packet of her favourite candy and a small blue bracelet. she slightly smiled before entering her apartment with the box in her hand.
