nam hae-yi strolled into her classroom with her headphones playing her music at full volume. she was met with smiles from a few of her classmates and a couple waves; hae-yi would not consider herself popular but she didn't have any enemies as far as she was aware, apart from cheong-san of course. she was often quite quiet at school and kept to herself most of the time, but she was also sweet to anybody who talked to her and gave everybody small smiles in the corridors. if she needed to though, she would stand up for others, but not so much herself.

she placed her blue backpack on her desk peg before talking to i-sak who was watching tiktoks on her phone while hugging a pillow. after a few minutes of pleading, i-sak rolled her eyes jokingly and handed the pillow over to hae-yi, who threw her arms around it and grinned whilst watching tiktoks with her best friend.

as they watched some youtuber called orangibberish's tiktoks, they were interrupted by their classmate na-yeon's yells. hae-yi looked up to see her shouting at gyeong-su.

" yah! get off of there! you stink." she complained.

" oh okay, my bad." gyeong-su apologised, getting off na-yeon's desk and wiping it with his arm, "what's the big deal? sorry. "

" cut it out!" she shrieked, and hae-yi walked over to them, " you're so dirty."

" na-yeon he already apologised, it's fine. i have some wipes in my bag if you really need to clean your desk. " hae-yi said, trying to diffuse the situation. na-yeon looked at her before sighing and sitting down, gyeong-su watching her angrily.

" what's her problem.. " he muttered.

" hey, just let it go. class is starting anyway." hae-yi told him, tugging on his sleeve to get him to leave na-yeon be and not anger her anymore. cheong-san's eyes looked at where hae-yi's fingers were on his friend's arm before looking up at her. to his surprise, she was looking at him too, leading to a moment of awkward eye contact as they both remembered they had said to each other the previous day. hastily, hae-yi averted her eyes and moved to sit down at her desk, but cheong-san's eyes lingered on her for a moment before the bell rang and he took his seat.

" everybody please come to the front and hand in your phones. " their teacher ms park said, and everybody stood up with their phones in hand. i-sak and hae-yi exchanged a smirk before walking to the front of the classroom, placing their 'phones' in the safe and heading back to their seats.

once everybody had sat down again, ms park opened her phone and sent a message to all her students to check who had not handed in their phones. chimes were heard from i-sak and dae-su, who both pretended it wasn't them.

" one more time, please hand in your phones." ms park repeated, and the class giggled as i-sak and dae-su shamefully stood up and handed in their real phones.

the teacher checked one more time for any fake phones before picking up hae-yi's white iphone.

" hae-yi." ms park said, and the girl looked up at her from the second last row, " this is your old phone. come and take it and give me your real phone."

hae-yi pressed her lips together as the class laughed at her. she reluctantly walked up the front and replaced her old phone with her new one and sent a polite smile to ms park.

once she got back to her desk, she put the pillow down and laid her head on it, taking a nap as ms park began talking about one of their classmates kim hyeon-ju.
