cheong-san peered around the corner of the staircase where he saw su-hyeok and hae-yi facing each other, su-hyeok's hand gently resting on her shoulder. suddenly, su-hyeok turned around and noticed cheong-san spying on them. he walked over to his friend and they began to walk to their homeroom, before
su-hyeok looked back at hae-yi who was shooting death stares at cheong-san's back. he chuckled at the look on her face, causing cheong-san to look back too and notice hae-yi standing still." are you coming with us or...? " su-hyeok asked hae-yi, who stopped her death stares and walked up to stand next to the boys. she quietly walked next to them, avoiding eye contact with cheong-san and pretending to find the floor extremely interesting as him and su-hyeok talked about hyeon-ju. after a while, their conversation shifted to crushes, when
su-hyeok turned to hae-yi." hae-yi," he said, causing her to look up from the floor and face him, cheong-san watching from the corner of his eye, " do you like anybody? "
hae-yi went silent and shook her head at the question, to which su-hyeok hummed and turned back to cheong-san to ask if he liked anybody.
" what about you cheong-san? got your eye on anybody?" he asked, but cheong-san was too distracted by watching hae-yi speed up her walking pace and leave the pair behind before she could hear his answer.

" no way! " i-sak exclaimed, standing up in the cafeteria, causing the room to go quiet.
hae-yi scolded her friend and pulled her back to sit down, apologising to the people sitting near them." shush! " she said as i-sak hit her arm excitedly.
" does she really run in at the wedding? " i-sak asked excitedly as hae-yi spoiled their favourite k-drama.
" yeah! and then he stops the wedding and goes and kisses her. " hae-yi squealed, just as excited as i-sak.
" i can't believe i missed it because my parents made me go to my aunt's house. " she complained.
" why don't we watch it at mine tonight? " hae-yi offered, to which i-sak enthusiastically nodded.
...
after they put their trays away, hae-yi told i-sak to meet her in their homeroom because she needed to head to the library quickly. i-sak departed back to class 2-5, as hae-yi walked towards the main cafeteria doors.
that was when she heard screams.
hae-yi curiously looked around, trying to find the source of the screams, when she heard a crash coming from the glass doors she was facing. students were piling on top of each other, attempting to run inside of the cafeteria. hesitantly, hae-yi took a step forward to try and see what was happening, when the glass doors smashed and students fell out onto the floor, a massive crowd forming.
at the back of the crowd, she saw a few students twitching in the same way hyeon-ju had done before, their mouths dripping with blood as they bit their fellow students.
students were running past hae-yi, hitting her in the shoulder yet she stayed frozen out of fear. slowly, she started to step backwards when a girl ran into her shoulder , the force knocking hae-yi to the ground as she stayed staring at the chaos in front of her.
