Loving The Best Friend (Marcus Butler)

Chapter Nine

——- Hannah's P.O.V ——-

I wonder how my parents will react to my relationship with Marcus when I see them tomorrow. I mean, the only boyfriend I ever had was Matt and they wanted me to marry the guy. They were furious at me when I said that I wanted to stay in Brighton without Matt, that was the only reason Matt and I broke up. He wanted to move and get a change of scenery whereas I wasn't ready to leave everything behind. I have no idea why my parents were completely set on me and Matt staying together, I dated him because I was convinced that Marcus was going to be with Niomi for a long time. At one point I did love Matt, he was an amazing boyfriend to me and he treated me in the best way possible but I guess it wasn't meant to be if it ended that easily.

Marcus and I have just checked into our hotel and we are going up to dump our bags before wandering around town a little. I have been to Solihull enough to know my way around and to know where I need to go. It's very unlikely that I will get lost considering the fact that everywhere is pretty easy to get to. I just want to look around to be honest, I want to see if anything has changed because last time I was here a couple of shops were shutting down and there was some building work going on so I am pretty curious.

I put all of our toiletry items in the bathroom whilst Marcus unpacks our clothes "All done" I say walking into the bedroom "Same here" Marcus says moving the suitcases into the corner of the room "This room isn't that bad" I say sitting on the bed "No it isn't" he says slowly making his way over to me "You are ticklish right?" he asks and I move back on the bed "Don't ask that question" I say and he chuckles. He jumps onto the bed and pins me down before starting to tickle me like crazy "Marky" I say between laughs trying to bat his hands away "Stop it" I say and he chuckles "Say 'I love Marcus more than anything'" he says and I roll my eyes "I love Marcus" I say trying to catch my breath "More than anything" I say and he finally stops tickling me.

After composing ourselves we leave our hotel and walk around town. Marcus slings his arm over my shoulder and I hold his hand too. As we walk around I notice a familiar face "Marky" I say and we stop walking "Look" I say and I point to the person that seems to be Matt. I haven't seen him in a while even though he and his parents live next door to my parents and yes he still lives with his parents which is kind of sad in my opinion. Matt walks towards us and smiles at me "Wow Hannah" he says looking me up and down making me feel a little uncomfortable.

Marcus keeps his arm around my shoulder whilst Matt stands there completely oblivious to Marcus "You look too amazing for words" Matt says and I smile a little "Thanks Matt. How've you been?" I ask and he nods "I've been alright. How is it back in Brighton?" he asks and I smile properly this time "Brighton is great. I love it there" I say and he smiles "I'm glad I bumped into you actually. I was wondering if you would want to go out some time, catch up a little maybe pick up where we left off" he says and I shake my head "Sorry Matt. I'm currently taken" I say and his mouth drops.

I put my arm around Marcus' waist effectively pulling him closer "She's taken by me" Marcus says and Matt glares at Marcus "She is dating you. No way" Matt says and Marcus chuckles "Yes she is dating me. Frankly it seems to be an upgrade" Marcus says and Matt scoffs "Oh please Butler" Matt says and I roll my eyes "Look Matt. I know we haven't seen each other in a while and we have both clearly changed. I am dating someone else" I say and he shakes his head "You have stolen my girl Butler, that is crossing a line" Matt says and Marcus rolls his eyes "How could I have stolen her? You broke up with her because she wouldn't move with you" he says.

Matt crosses his arms clearly not impressed "Hannah has moved on Matt. You need to as well. She won't be dating you anytime soon, she is most definitely out of your league so if I were you I would stop trying" Marcus says before turning around and we both walk off. We walk to Starbucks and order drinks before going up to the top level and sitting down by the window "I haven't seen Matt in such a long time so of course I see him when we're together and he tries to ask you out" Marcus says clearly annoyed "Knowing him he will tell his parents when he gets home" I say.

Marcus looks to me with amusement written over his face "He still lives with his parents?" he asks and I nod "That's priceless. I would've thought that a guy that acts like such a big shot would actually have his own apartment" he says and I giggle "Oh you have no idea" I say and he raises his eyebrows "Tell me more" he says and I giggle "Well his parents pay for practically everything. He doesn't have a job. He didn't go to college or university and he is a total player" I say and Marcus bursts out laughing "He has a sad life" he says and I nod in agreement "To be fair though I didn't go to Uni" Marcus says and I shrug "At least you went to college plus you have the most amazing job possible" I say and Marcus smiles.

I'm glad that Marcus and I can just laugh about the situation with Matt. I still can't believe he tried to ask me out thought, I would've thought that it was pretty obvious that I was in a relationship considering a guy had his arm around me and I was holding his hand.
