The Promise He Never Kept

One

I shoot up in my bed, from the same dream I have over and over. The worst day of my life.

"Cassidy! Get up, get dressed! Your boyfriend is here waiting for you!" I hear my mom yell from downstairs.

"So, what is he? The third one this month?" My sister, Auden, questions as she stands in my bedroom doorway.

"No, it's the first of November. I try not to have more than two a month." I say as I climb out of bed.

"Well, I knew he was a new one, since mom didn't know his name." She says as she walks into my bedroom.

Me and Auden are really close. We're a little less than a year apart in age. My mom went to get her tubes tied, and found out that she was pregnant with me. So, basically, I was 'the accident' of the family. Still, as my mom says, I may have been an accident, but she can't be more glad to have me and all of my siblings. I am the third of four children. It goes Ashton, Auden, me, and Elle.

"Cassidy...! Auden! Help, please!" I hear Ashton yell from down the hall.

I get up and walk down the hallway, before reaching Ashton's room. I look in, and I'm not surprised to see Elle is inside Ashton's room, on his back. He's almost on the ground, but is restraining her well enough.

"Elle! What did mom tell you about resorting in violence?" Auden says to her from behind me.

"To not resort in it." Elle says as she gives us a grin.

"Get her off me, please!" Ashton yells.

I walk up to Ashton, before picking up Elle off of his back. Yes, I'm strong enough to pick her up. Elle is only sixteen, but is extremely small for her age. She's only 5'2, while I'm 5'9. Ashton is about 6'1, and Auden is about 5'6.

"I may be small, but I am aggressive." Elle hisses at Ashton.

"All I did was call her shortie! Then, she went psycho! She jumped on me and was yelling at me. She was yelling at me that she wasn't short!" Ashton says, completely ignoring Elle's statement.

"Never call Elle short." Me and Auden say at the same time.

In all of my seventeen years, I had learned a lot of things to not do around Elle. She gets ticked off very easily.

Yet, even though Ashton is around a lot, he has a long time to learn all of her anger issues.

Ashton is 19, and he just started college a couple months ago. Auden is 18. She just started her senior year of high school a couple months ago. I, Cassidy, am 17. I just started my junior year of high school. Lastly, there's Elle who is 16. She just started her sophomore year of high school.

We all had best friends once. They, were the Lynch's. But, I refuse to talk to them now. Not ever since he left.

I will never speak to him again. He left me, and I won't let people like him in my life. He's already put me into depression once, and I'm not letting him do it again.
