Thunderous Comfort

( Hey there! Excuse how slightly shorter this chapter was. It was a little difficult coming up with an idea so here's one based on Tails's major fear of thunder. Enjoy!!❤️ )

After a long and tiring day of going form one house to the next, doing all sorts of things like plumbing, landscaping, several light fixes and paint rework, you came home that night, longing for sleep and took a nice shower using the downstairs bathroom.

Once you got your night gown on you went to your room and flopped on your bed, covering yourself in your warm and slightly elongated blanket that Knuckles accidentally ripped. You shifted positions, burying your face into your pillow and falling asleep.

As the night continued, dark clouds began to roll over Green Hills, emitting deep rumbles and occasional flashes of light.

Tails shared a room with Sonic and Knuckles slept in the guest room which looked more like a bedroom thanks to [Y/n].
The kitsune jolted awake due to the thunder rolling out his window.

He then lowered his ears and ducked underneath the covers of his airplane bed. As the thunder grew louder, he yelped and got out, going over towards Sonic's bed, which was a blue and white racecar with red wheels which also had spikes on the rear.

He peered over at his sleeping older brother and gently poked him.

"S-onic? Are you awake..?" Tails softly asked.

The blue Hedgehog then shifted in his sleep as he murmured something.

"M-move over..mph..Hedgehog..on a mission.." He cooed in his sleep before curling into a ball.

Not wanting to bother him, he left, closing the door and went down the hall to Knuckle's room.

As thunder continued to erupt out the clouds, Tails quickened his pace until he bumped into the bed post.

He rose up again, looking at Knuckles, who had a stern face on and constantly flinched. He suddenly kicked, causing the fox cub to jump.

"Actually.. Nevermind.." Tails retreated from Knuckles's room, closing the door quietly on the way out and moving to the room right next to it.

Tails peeked into your room, and saw you comfortably snuggled in your blankets. He had second thoughts, not wanting to interrupt until bright flash emittied the room. The fox cub yelped loudly, jolting towards your bed in panic.

His paws skidded to catch grip while he jumped up and dove into your covers. You jolted awake In shock looking around.

Feeling something against your body, you flew the covers up slightly, revealing a golden yellow and white ball of fluff which shuffled deeper into the large quilt sheltering him from the roaring thunder. You then lowered your eyebrows and tiredly smiled.

"Whoa ok, ease up Tails" You cooed. "Where's the fire?"

The cub pointed to the window. Following your gaze you saw nothing until some thunder boomed, causing Tails to whine and latch himself closer to you, tears beginning to form. Realizing the problem, you scooped him closer to you. Gently stroking his head.

"Hey, it's alright. I gotcha." You calmly said.

You continued to stroke his head until he stopped tearing and moved his head up, his tails slightly wagging at the tip.

Some thunder loudly rumbled outside, causing Tails to look at the window with a whimper.

"Hey hey..I'm right here..remember?" You pet his chest, causing him to lay back down.

A small vibration could be heard from his chest as he cuddled closer to you. You grinned ear to ear in awe as you continued and hugged him, making the cub feel a lot better. He didn't even notice some lightning struck and more thunder followed behind.

With a squeaky yawn, Tails immediately fell asleep, peacefully. You were about to close your eyes until you spotted some blue at the doorway.

"Hey [Y/n] have you seen Tails? He's not in his-"

"Shhh..!" You placed a finger on your lip and pointed down next to you, where Tails was, covering his face entirely with his bushy tails.

Sonic then nodded in understanding and began walking away, pausing just before he left then turn to look at you and Tails, His pupils dialating.

"What's up?" You asked.

"I...don't like sleeping in the dark..alone.." Sonic slowly got out.

You knew exactly what he was gonna ask next so without further explanation, you simply said -

"Come on in."

Within seconds he instantly took your right side and curled up, one of his arms on your chest. You then sighed, closing your eyes.

After a while, you then felt something heavy weighing on your middle and looked up to see Knuckles laying horizontally with his belly facing the ceiling, Snoring a little bit louder, but it didn't bother you.
You smiled and went back to sleep with the help of some rain pattering upon the windowsills.
