As RK ran, hands detached themselves from their owners, and tried to trip him up, to make him fall, they wanted to see him sprawled on the floor- a weakling surrounded by the type of laughter that gets inside your head and sticks there. The type that makes you wonder if you'll ever be able to survive in this cruel world...
Still RK soldiered on, Alice by his side reminding him of all that was sweet and pure in a world filled with sour people who's ambitions fell prey to the signal tower long ago, and suffered for it.
RK and Alice made it out of the hospital.
Bursting out into the comparatively fresh air felt like being brought back to life, and the pair spent a while inhaling cleanish air, then catching their breath back.
I'm glad we made it out, although I've been wondering.....
"How exactly did you always manage to point us in the right direction?" Alice asked, with a smile.
She said us! US!
"I just memorised the way we came in."
You would've thought that RK announced that there was a prize for the biggest jaw drop, the way Alice reacted, with her mouth wide enough to catch a nome.
While she was standing there, RK started walking again but when he didn't feel her now familiar presence, he turned around.
"A-are you coming?"
These words, spoken with nervousness told Alice all she needed to know. That RK wanted her by his side, and that she wanted that too. So why not look for Six with an allie? Or maybe something more...
