CHAPTER 14: Nightmares

(mention of death, blood, nightmares)

"n-no let me go-"

"no one's gonna save you kid"

Taehyun tried running but he couldn't get the person's grip off his wrist. He cried louder, screaming and calling out for his mom and dad but no one came to save him.

"Taehyun !! Taehyun !!!"

Taehyun opened his eyes and saw Hyuka. He sat up and Hyuka enveloped him in a hug.

"shhh....it was a dream, it was a dream"

"Hyuka he- he- *sob* i-"

"it's alright... breathe Taehyun, come on, inhale"

Taehyun took a deep breath and exhaled it out, letting the tears fall.

"it's alright"

"I'm sorry...i woke you up again-"

"shut up now will you ? you know I'm willing to stay up all night for you if i have to !!"

Taehyun looked down and drank the water Hyuka offered him.

Taehyun and Hyuka walked in the hallway. Hyuka kept looking at Taehyun who didn't look up even once the whole time. Yes. Taehyun had actual nightmares and it wasn't just a made up lie.

He had these nightmares at least once a week and they were really bad. And the part that affected him more was that all of it was true. It all happened in the past and left a huge and deep wound on him, that would never heal. Or maybe it could-

"Taehyun !!"

Both the boys turned around. Deja vu. Beomgyu noticed Taehyun's face and this was his first time seeing Taehyun like that. He had a scared and sad expression on his face and Beomgyu assumed it was a nightmare again.

"I'll take him"

Hyuka hesitated knowing it was serious this time but he put his trust in Beomgyu hoping Taehyun would get better. Beomgyu and Taehyun attended their classes and Taehyun didn't utter a single word the whole time and this was worrying Beomgyu.

Taehyun wasn't like this the other day. It was their lunch time now and Taehyun didn't want to eat anything.

"come on"

"hyung i don't want to...please"

Beomgyu sighed and grabbed Taehyun's hand.

"ok then...come with me"

Before Taehyun could ask, he was already getting dragged out of the building. Beomgyu brought him to the football field and made him sit on the stairs. He knew Taehyun needed to let it all out and this place was the best, considering it was the same place Beomgyu opened up back then.

"wait for me"

Taehyun waited for a couple of minutes and Beomgyu came back running with two milkshakes in his hand. He sat beside Taehyun and handed him one of the shakes.

Taehyun stared at Beomgyu for sometime before taking it.

"what ?"

Taehyun shook his head and stared back at the field. Beomgyu followed his gaze and started playing with the straw, trying to gather up his courage.

"what do you see...in those... nightmares ?"

Taehyun looked down and took a deep breath.

"d-death..."

Beomgyu looked at Taehyun, waiting for him to continue.

"m-my parents' death..."

Beomgyu's breath hitched. Taehyun's parents were dead ?? He never heard that even from Hyuka or anyone else. This was really shocking for him.

"i- i almost got killed too...but guess what...i somehow survived...but they didn't..."

Taehyun sobbed and smiled bitterly. He didn't know why he was crying again. He has cried over the same thing for millions of times and he thought he ran out of tears. Guess not.

Beomgyu didn't say anything and let him rant it all out.

"t-they were there...in the room...when i was screaming and shouting for help but no one came a-and when i- *sob* when i got free from his grip and ran inside the room...t-they were- they were lying there *sob* b-bodies covered in b-blood and t-there was nothing i could do...it was too late-"

Beomgyu shifted closer to Taehyun and hugged him from the side, letting him cry on his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry...it's alright... it's in the past-"

"i- i wanted to find...who did that to them- t-that person who held me so tight-"

"do you perhaps... remember who did that-"

Taehyun nodded his head continuously and pulled back to look at Beomgyu.

"i- i remember...he comes in my nightmares too- can you h-help me ? h-hyung i really want...i really want to fight for my parents- please *sob* h-help m-"

Beomgyu tightly hugged Taehyun.

"i will...i will"

He whispered in Taehyun's ears while his own eyes teared up. His mind wasn't helping him right now. This whole situation with Taehyun... might be connected to him and he feared....

He feared that they might fall apart or this might be something that leads to the end of their friendship. Beomgyu hugged Taehyun tighter, feeling the pain the boy was in while he cried on his shoulder.

"i will..."
