CHAPTER 35: Betrayal

Taehyun woke up after hearing some noises outside.

"hyung ?"

He called out and waited for a bit. When there was no response, he stood up and quietly walked outside.

"beom-"

He immediately hid behind the wall when he saw a few men in black uniforms with guns in their hands. Taehyun's chest started heaving. He kept his hand on his chest and tried to calm himself down.

He picked his phone up and called the number Beomgyu gave him for emergencies. The line got connected as soon as he dialed it.

"Hello-"

"we're in danger !! me and Beomgyu hyung! There are some wierd men in black uniforms and they have guns!! please be quick, we're in danger"

"ok !! we'll be there in a few minutes-"

"please hurry, please!!"

All he hoped was for Beomgyu to be alright. He quickly ran towards the living room, trying his best not to get caught. One of the men looked behind and Taehyun instantly dropped to the floor, sliding behind a cabinet.

"please be fine, please be fine"

Taehyun kept whispering while still breathing loudly. As soon as he saw the chance, he ran towards the kitchen counter and hid behind it. He was sure no one saw him.

He tried to catch on their conversation but there wasn't anything to listen to... except what he shouldn't have heard.

"boss said, don't wait and end him"

The man on the right said.

"it'd be a pity to let him die without any torture but whatever, we don't have time"

Said the other man who was on the left. The one in the centre just nodded.

Taehyun glanced over at the men and then at Beomgyu. He was taken aback when he saw Beomgyu surrendering. Taehyun waited for the men to stop, he waited for Beomgyu to do something but nothing happened.

That's when he noticed something that changed everything. There was something he saw in the new guy that made him question his whole life.

And before he could even do anything about it, it was already too late. Right when he heard the gun loading and saw the man pointing it at Beomgyu, he ran in front of him and got shot instead.

Taehyun felt a burning sensation in the left side of his chest. Everything around him became blurred and a beep sound rang in his ears. He fell on the floor with a loud thud. His whole body turned weak and he finally heard Beomgyu's voice.

"TAEHYUN !!"

Beomgyu dropped to the floor, picking Taehyun up.

"Taehyun !! ya Kang Taehyun !! what did you do ?!?! wake up !! WAKE UP !!"

Beomgyu cried while shaking Taehyun's body and pressing the wound with one hand, preventing blood loss. Taehyun slightly opened his eyes.

"h-hyung *hiccup* i- i told you to b-be safe- i-"

His breath hitched and he struggled to speak. He somehow managed to turn his head to the side. With all the strength he could gather, he lifted his arm up and pointed a finger towards the man who shot him. The new guy.

"h- he-"

Taehyun struggled to breathe and his eyes closed, his body now restless in Beomgyu's arms.

"N-NO !! KANG TAEHYUN !! WAKE UP !! D-D- DON'T DO THIS TO ME !! WAKE UP !!"

Beomgyu looked up at the three men that stood there confused as to where the other boy suddenly came from and who he was. However the one in the middle knew him all too well.

"You'll see me in hell"

Beomgyu picked his gun up and shot the three men one after the other knowing it was of no use because they wore a bulletproof vest. But the bullets were hard enough to make the men fall to the ground. Beomgyu's men barged in through the doors.

"Master Taehyun called for help-"

The man stopped when he saw Beomgyu on the floor with Taehyun in his arms along with the huge red puddle around them.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT ?!?! CALL THE AMBULANCE !!"

His men called the ambulance and they arrived within a few minutes. While they were helping Beomgyu in putting Taehyun on the stretcher, the new man who got shot lifted his head up. He removed his mask and looked at the two boys with tears in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry Taehyunie.... I'm...sorry"

Beomgyu was a crying mess. He was about to walk out with the people when his gaze met his. He felt true betrayal at that right moment and he finally understood what Taehyun was trying to say.

"Kai Kamal Huening"
