"You know I don't think he would shout at us too much." Tony said as we got out of the car at our next stop.
"Oh? And why's that?"
"Because almost everything he asks us to do he asks us to do it together." he pointed out as we walked up the drive towards the door.
"So? He has rules."
"They're his rules not ours."
"If he knew you had said that he'd yell at you."
"Zeva," he had stopped a little behind me and was cautiously looking into a window on the side of the house, I joined him swiftly. "He had a kid." peering through the window, a small girl of maybe around 6 or 7, with blonde hair, sat on the floor eating a large piece of cake and staring at the tv.
"Great." I groaned, walked to the front door, and knocked three times. I quickly glanced at Tony as he opened his mouth but closed it promptly as the door opened and a tall lady with flowing blonde hair opened it.
"Mrs Sigton?" he asked,
She nodded slowly and looked at us cautiously. "yes?"
"NCIS," I announced showing our badges "Im afraid to tell you that your husband, Ian, and his Brother Alex, were found dead this morning in their hotel room."
She seemed un phased. Her face still wore a smile, though it may have been smaller than when she answered the door. But she didn't seem like the news her husband was dead, affected her at all.
"In a hotel room?" she shook her head "no, no that can't be right, they were both killed in service three months ago."
"Three months ago? Did the navy tell you this?" Tony asked.
She nodded "yes. I've got the papers, I can show you if you want."
"That would be good." I said following her into her house. For the wife of a marine, her house was small. It looked like she didn't receive any of his pay.
"Do you work Mrs Sigton?" Tony asked, shutting the door and catching my brain wave.
"Yes, I'm a kindergarten teacher." she smiled, shut the door to the living room so her daughter could not hear anything and began rifling through drawers, presumably looking for the papers.
"Forgive me, but did you get any of your husbands pay?" I asked, looking around.
She laughed lightly and smiled "please, my husband didn't take any notice of me. Not since Carla. She's what kept me going throughout the last five years."
I glanced at Tony "What happened, to cause him to..." he began.
"Leave me? You can say it. It's fine. We never really clicked, but Alex." She paused, her blue eyes looked up as a child would when they are day dreaming.
"His brother?"
"Yes, he was my high school sweetheart. I only married Ian because he was the oldest and well for a family like that ... oldest gets married first."
"What sort of family was that?" Tony asked, she smiled softly, leaning against the breakfast bar she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear - making me scoff slightly.
"Oh you know, very traditional, oldest gets married first, father in charge of everything, no work at the table, that sort of thing." she said.
"Right."
"Did either of them have an enemy's?" I asked.
"Oh sure they did! Their dad worked as a tax collector, how do you think that worked out for them?" she scoffed and walked slowly across to Tony, handed the naval papers to him.
"May we keep these?" I asked again looking over at them.
"Sure, they're only cluttering up space." she looked at Tonys gun. "Guess girls feel protected when you have that around."
"Well it comes with the job." he said, moving away from her slightly, I simply laughed.
"Ian is your daughters father yes?" I asked finally reading the papers carefully.
"Oh no. That's why he left. Alex is."
"So he left you and a small child while he went?" Tony inquired.
"Well. Really I was glad when he went. Alex was the favourite of the pair. Ian just got left behind. Litterally."
Tony sighed in an exasperated tone "Did he tell you where he went?"
She laughed "No. Why would he? He hated me and I hated him. Mutual and all."
I studied her face, she seemed far too happy. Her sweetheart was dead too so why be overly happy about it.
"What was your relationship with Alex?" I asked,
"Well we had an affair going, when he was back in from Iraq or where ever he was." she said cooly.
Tony sighed angrily and forced a smile "well I think we're done here, if we have anything else then we'll be back." he said walking to the door, followed by myself and Mrs Sigton.
"Alright, glad I could be of help to the government." she swooned, leaning on the door as we walked out but shutting it promptly as we left the drive way.
"Help? Help, she called that help? I've had high to the sky navy members who have been more help than her!" he almost yelled, as we got into the car - Tony driving.
"She was helpful Tony." I said soothingly.
"How? How was that help?" He asked, pulling out into the road.
