Ch. 17: Revelation

Sumilip ako sa fire exit.

And I gasped.

Nakita ko si Edge kausap si Kate!

BAKIT???!!!!

Alam ko na masama makinig ng usapan ng iba but when it comes to my Edge, I can't help it. So, lumapit ako para lalo pang marinig ang usapan nila. Naiintriga talaga ako. Magkakilala pala sila. Pero bakit parang hindi naman close silang tingnan dito sa school.

I unconsiously held my breath.

"Kate, I just wanted to talk to you," Edge said.

"Edge, alam mo namang wala---"

"Just a minute will do Kate," Edge said cutting Kate off.

"O-Okay."

Tapos may kinuha si Edge sa bag niya.

"I just wanted to give you these," Edge said while smiling. Pero there is something sa smile na iyon ang hindi tama. It's not his usual smile. He just looked hurt to me.

"Ed..." Kate trailed off.

"I made them. Favorite mo yang mga cookies na yan di ba?"

Napanganga ako. EDGE IS FREAKING GIVING DEDICATIONS TO KATE!

"Edge, you don't have to do this," Kate said, shaking her head.

"I want to, Kate."

"Pero Edge, kung ipapapatuloy mo pa ito, it'll just make things harder."

Harder?!

"Kate, ito ang gusto ko." I looked at Edge and he was really serious ng sabihin niya ito.

Somehow, I felt something tugging my heart. Bakit masakit? Ano bang sinasabi nila?

"Kate, I'm willing to wait."

"Edge--"

"Kate, I love you!"

And at that moment, I felt na tumigil ang mundo sa pag-ikot. Parang tumigil din ang puso ko sa pagtibok. I don't hear a thing. I can only hear my breathing and my heart breaking. I felt a part of my heart drop on the floor. Ang sakit. Unconsciously, tears started to fall down my face.

Gusto kong tumakbo. Gusto kong takpan ang mga tenga ko para hindi ko na marinig pa ang katotohanan.

"Edge, stop it!"

"Kate, I love you. I will wait for you. I will always love you."

"Stop it, Edge! Wala na tayo! Mahirap bang intindihin yun?!"

At lalo lang akong nagulat sa sinabi ni Kate.

"K-Kate wag mo namang--"

"Edge, you know that I really care for you. I love you too pero bilang kaibigan na lang. Edge, those times that we were together were so wonderful. I was happy with you. And I really hate it that you are hurting because of me. But please stop it. Please stop loving me. Ayokong saktan ka. Alam mo yun. Edge, stop hurting yourself."

"K-Kate...but..." Edge said, his voice is shaking.

"Edge, please. Please, I'm begging you. Please move on. I know you'll find someone much better than me. Please stop waiting for me."

"K-Kate...no...I won't..."

Edge sounded so desperate and helpless.

Kate shook her head gently. "You can do it."

She smiled a sad smile. You can see that she is also hurting.

"Thanks for the dedication, Edge. Thank you for everything. Please be happy."
