Chapter 2 - Lie

“I think you know more than you say babe.”Jin questioned his boyfriend in their room.

The meeting ended quiet well. There was no bloodshed. That can be considered as a good start. Everyone went to their respective dorms until further notice. The meeting was literally held in the middle of the night and in the middle nowhere. Everybody was exhausted, not physically but mentally. They needed a break. Namjoon considered Jin’s advice and dismissed them for the time being. They all will be discussing about their first mission the next day.
 
             Jin came to his boyfriend’s room to say goodnight and relax a bit. “You know why the board decided to select people on such a short notice. You also know the main purpose of this organisation. I also know that it is not just secret missions a few experts will do on regular basis. The story runs deeper. I have a feeling you know more details about this than you say. Can I ask what they are?” His words held intensity, but his tone was as polite as ever, as if talking to child.
 
            Namjoon sighed heavily. He sat next to his love on the bed. He drowned an entire glass of water. His eyes then met with Jin’s. He dived in the depths of those beautiful eyes, taking his own time.
 
Jin waited patiently. He knew that whatever he was hiding was troubling him and needed someone to comfort him now.
 
          After a long time of staring, Jin took Namjoon’s hand in his own. “What is it babe? I know it is bothering you. You can tell me, you know that.” He caressed the other’s face, hoping to comfort him in any way possible.
 
Namjoon melted at the touch instantly. He closed his eyes and the others hand on his cheek. He took a deep breath-"I know it sweetheart. I can tell you anything and everything. I want to tell everything. But I can’t. Not just yet. I need a few days at least.”
 
            “You don’t feel that I am spying on you or something right. I swear Namjoon, I am asking only because I am worried. I don’t want anything bad to happen. I am only---"
 
           “Hey, hey, hey, I know.” Namjoon immediately cupped his boyfriend’s face and tried to reason with him. “I know that you mean well. You want everyone to be safe. I would never suspect you. Please don’t misunderstand. I am only doing this because I must keep everyone safe. I want to keep everyone safe, just like you do. Everything is going to be okay. Come here.”
 
             Jin wrapped his arms around the other’s neck and buried his face in his strong shoulder. Namjoon held him tightly, soothing his back slightly. They stayed like that for a few minutes.
 
             Jin couldn’t hold it in any longer. Tears falling on his perfect cheeks. He sobbed lightly. “I just have a very bad feeling about this. I don’t want anyone to get hurt. I don’t want anything happening to you—to us.” He let it out in one go.

           “Sshhh—I know baby, I know. No one is going to get hurt. Everything is going to be just fine. I promise. I will reveal everything when the time is right.”
 
Instead of calming down Jin sobbed even harder. “I know but I can’t help it. Bad things keep coming up in my mind. I don’t want that to happen.”
 
“Okay, okay--sshh look at me.” Namjoon pulled away from the embrace and held the other’s face in his palms. “Look, I can’t tell you what I am hiding. But I can tell you the reason.” He said wiping the tears with his thumbs. “But I can only tell you when you calm down. Only then will you be able to understand what I am saying. Okay? Please calm down baby.”
 
“Okay. I’m listening.”
 
“You saw how much they hate each other. It is very difficult for me already. It was because of you that I was able to handle them back at the conference. I wouldn’t have been able to do that, at all. And if I tell them the truth now, they will not hesitate to leave. They don’t want to work together right now, after knowing the reality, it will be impossible for me to keep them together.” Namjoon reasoned.
 
Jin nodded slightly in agreement. But Namjoon could still see that he was unconvinced.
“If you want me to tell the truth to everyone, we must make sure that we stick together despite anything that comes. The sooner they start cooperating with me and with each other, the sooner I will be able to tell them about everything. Will you help me in that darling, to keep them together?”
 
“Of course, babe. Anything for you, anything.” Jin replied with teary doe eyes.
 
“Thank you, babe. I love you. Everything is going to be just fine. Don’t stress yourself.” Namjoon pressed their lips, reassuringly. “Tomorrow is the big day. I will be announcing our first mission. You get some rest. I want everyone in the lounge at sharp nine in the morning. Sweet dreams love.”
 
Namjoon tucked him in the bed and went to complete the files that were necessary for the meeting.
