"Knock knock," Madison said as she opened the door to Mac's room. The younger blonde and Noelle instinctively moved slightly apart. They had been cuddling on the bed, watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn next to them.
"Hi Maddie, what's up?" Noelle asked, furrowing her brows as she paused the movie. She hadn't expected Madison to even know where Mac's room was.
"Noelle, are you all caught up on the mission later? You're coming, right?" Madison asked, walking toward them and sitting down at the edge of the bed.
"Of course, count me in."
"Mac, you're coming too, but you're only going to observe. No action. Got it?" Her gaze shifted to her younger sister. Mac's eyes widened in surprise. She could go with them? On a mission? Already? She blinked a few times, trying to process the words.
"Maddie, are you nuts?" Noelle crossed her arms over her chest. "You're joking, right?"
"No, I had the same reaction as you when Derek suggested it, but you and I didn't even have any training before getting thrown into some robbery. She's not made out of glass, and based on what I saw and heard from the fight a few days ago, she'll be perfectly fine. You can fill her in on the details. Meet by the cars in two hours," Madison's final words were before she left the two.
"Are you even ready for that? I mean, it was some serious stuff that happened to you earlier this week, no one would blame you—" the dark-haired girl started, but Mac quickly cut her off.
"I'm ready, Noelle. I'll be fine," Mac said. It fascinated Noelle how quickly her mindset had changed, from wanting nothing to do with the illegal stuff to being excited to go on a mission that would most likely end up with a lot of dead people. She was scared it would all hit Mac at once.
"Alright, if you say so. But only observing!" Noelle stated, pulling the blonde closer until she was sitting between her legs, her back pressed against Noelle's chest.
"Yes, mommy," Mac bit her bottom lip and slowly turned her head around, meeting a pair of lustful emerald eyes.
"Careful now. I will drag your ass right back to your shower if you keep talking like that, which is something we don't have time for. We have to get ready for tonight, and you need to check with the med bay to see if you're even fit to come. I don't like all these bruises all over your body," Noelle gave the younger girl a warning look.
"Ugh, fine," Mac rolled her eyes, and then the duo left for the med bay.
"Mic check," Madison said through the comms as she and Derek took their position on a rooftop on the east side of the harbor. Everyone quickly checked in, even Mac, who had her own. Madison had calculated 20 guys on the ground, circling the dock, and a few snipers scattered around.
They were early, as there was currently no movement yet. A few streetlights lit up around the containers, making it possible to barely see, as it was dark outside by now.
Madison grabbed her knife strapped around her thigh and let out a deep breath. She was the least patient person here, which Derek quickly picked up on.
"Bored already, Maddie?" he chuckled, lining up on her left while not taking his eyes off the dock, his hand resting on his belt where he kept his gun.
"What gave me away?" Madison asked rhetorically, also keeping her gaze in the same place. Derek was about to reply when their ship suddenly appeared in the distance.
"No one attacks until after the shipment has arrived. Everyone waits for my orders," Madison spoke through her comm, and all her senses sharpened as she actively scanned the area below for any movement.
