THE FOLLOWING NIGHT The group huddled together in the apartment that Sam,Tara, Aria and Quinn shared. Mindy and Anika were sitting together, Sam, Tara and Chad were talking in the living room.

Ethans hand was on Arias' thigh, as they sat and watched the news together. Aria wasn't expecting to find anything worth watching, but then she heard it.

"Holy shit." She muttered, to which her boyfriend replied "What?" Questioningly. She highered the volume, catching everyone's attention

Color drains from her face as she continues reading the captions.

"This just-in! Two college students were found brutally murdered in their home! They seemed to be stabbed to death, with their attacker still on the loose. But that isn't the creepiest part folks! Police found this, next to their bodies." Aria's expression goes colder as she sees the ghost face mask the news reporter holds up.

Their friend Anika shuts off the TV, sensing Aria's anxiety. She tries breathing deeper to calm herself, as her boyfriend Ethan turns her around and holds her waist. "It's okay Ari, it'll be fine."

"Shit that's that chode from our film class!" Mindy exclaims, causing Aria to turn her head again.

"Oh shit, you're right."

Sam's eyes narrow as she points to Tara and Aria. "You two, pack a bag." and fleas out of the room.

"Woah, Sam!" Tara says, chasing her sister.

"Is she serious?" Ethan questions as Aria shrugs her shoulders.

"Sam, calm down!" Aria says, catching her.

"Calm down? You knew him! Both of you!" She says, wanting to protect her sister and her best friend.

"It's a big city! It's Halloween, everyone's wearing masks!" Tara exclaims, turning to Aria for support.

"And it's purely coincidence that you knew them?" Sam questions cunningly, as she points a knife to the TV. "Chad? Mindy" She says in hopes for support,

"It is a little bit,"

"Close to home." Mindy responded.

"Barely." Aria replied. "They were in our class, same with 40 other people, in a huge college."

"Thank you!" Tara says, and turns back to her sister. "Sam," She sighs,

"Please consider us before you make the unethical decision to abandon our college education and flee the fucking state."

The sisters give each other a series of looks, before Sam sighs and says, "fine."

Back in Aria's room, Ethan and her are sitting on her bed. Everyone made the unanimous decision to spend the night here.

"Do you even know what happened?" Aria questions her boyfriend.

"Hm?" He responded,

"Last year. Did I ever tell you?" She asks, to which her boyfriend gave her a puppy eye look and responded "No, not really. I know parts of it but," He shrugged his shoulders as he lied to her. But he couldn't look her in the eye.

She takes a big inhale in, before saying "Last year, a bunch of my friends died. My childhood friend, Wes, and my new close friend Liv. And my best friend, Amber. Her psychotic fucking boyfriend gave me this,"

Ethans jaw clenches at the mention of his brother's name, but when he sees the scar across his girlfriend's stomach, his mood changes. His gaze softens as he begins tracing it with his finger.

"It didn't feel real I guess. I'd known Amber, my whole life. It was almost like she was a different person. Like, she was nothing but a killer. And that's not how I had ever seen her before."

"I'm sorry, Ar." He gently says, not realizing he meant it. His thoughts are interrupted when he sees his girlfriend gazing at his lips, then his eyes. He grins at her, as he uses one of his hands to pull her in closer by her waist, and his other he places on her jaw.

The couple smiles at each other as their kiss deepens and Ethan presses his hands on her stomach as he towers over her. He kisses down her neck, then back up to her lips when they hear the door open.

"Oooh okay love birds!" Their friend Anika teases.

"Ever heard of knocking?!" Aria shouts, blushing as she throws a stuffed animal at her friend.

Anika closes the door, as Ethan and Aria both laugh with each other.
"I hate them." Aria jokes, flipping her hair back. "No you don't" Her boyfriend spits back.

"No, I don't." She laughs, as she gazes at Ethan.

After a few seconds, her expression darkens as she looks down.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"Just thinking." She answered. Her boyfriend got off of her, and sat next to her.

"Are you thinking about the news?" He asks gently. His stomach turns at the sight of his girlfriend nodding her head.

"I just can't imagine it happening again." She says, looking at him with hopeful eyes. "I'm just grateful I have you." She kissed him softly, as Ethan slowly realized he didn't want to hurt her.
