Chapter 5

CHAPTER FIVE.

THE GIRLS walked the sidewalks of New York. They try getting their minds off of the recent murders. The latest murder, Sam's ex therapist. He was stabbed in his home, causing police to bring her in for questioning.

Aria and Tara waited outside the station for Sam, looking at the dark night sky. "How do you think she's doing?" Aria asks her friend. Tara stares at her with narrow doe eyes. "Not good." She responds. Aria nods her head and her expression fades.

"We're gonna be okay Tar. We'll make it out of this, together."
Aria's words provided little comfort, but Tara wanted to stay strong for her and her sister. She plasters on a smile before the doors open, and Sam appears.

"Ready to go?" Sam asks the two girls, watching them nod their heads. The three girls walked along the street together, before stopping in front of an apartment complex due to the sound of Sam's phone ringing.

The color drains from Aria's face as she sees the name on Sam's phone.

Richie Kirsch.

"I never deleted his contact.." Sam mutters, peering down to the sight of her phone.

"Sam, don't answer it." Tara exclaims.

"Yeah come on, let's get home. Please." Aria cries, lightly touching Taras arm.

Tara nods and stares at her best friend for comfort.

"We can't ignore it." Sam says,

"Why not?!" Her sister replied. The ghostly mood helps Sam respond, "They're after us Tara. We shouldn't be naive."

The three girls stare at each other, watching the phone ring. "I'll do it." Aria says, grabbing the phone and placing it up to her ear.

"Who is this?" She asks, before she's met with a familiar voice.

"Aria. Isn't this a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting you yet." The eerie voice spews. "Yeah well you get me now." She spits back, looking around her. Sam clings on to her arm for support.

The voice of ghostface laughs, before hissing "You always were the conniving one. Such a role model! So brave, so fearless."

"Save it, I'm uninterested. Who the fuck is this?" She spews. Her breathing deepens, as the voice does too. The sisters stare at her, watching the gaze on her face change as ghostface says, "Wouldn't you like to know. Don't worry, Ari. We'll meet again, sooner than you think."

The caller hangs up, and Aria brings the phone down as Sam asks, "What happened?" Just then, a dark masked figure snuck up behind the girls and dragged Tara to them, holding the knife up at her! Tara gasps, as Sam grabs the knife, loosening the attacker's grip on her sister. Taras is released, and Sam and her start running as Aria punches her attacker and joins them.

The girls run into a nearby bodega, and begin pleading with the cashier to help them! All at once, the girls chant a series of sobs along the lines of

"Please help us! There's a man attacking us!"

"He's going to kill us, please help!"

"We could all die, please stop him!"

The girl's fear is interrupted by the man behind them chanting "Hey, there's a line here!" seconds before the door opens. Aria lets out a gasp of fear as tears stream down her and Taras face at the sight of ghostface.

"Hey man, you have a problem?" The man behind them steps forward and says, before getting slashed and meeting his fate as his body falls to the floor. The girls scream in fear, as ghostface stabs another man as the other customers flee the scene. The cashier is able to duck behind the counter, as ghostface chases the three girls around the store.

Aria pushes a shelf on the masked attacker, he falls to the ground as the cashier jumps back up. He reveals his shotgun! Ghostface sprints up and around the store as he fires 4 bullets at him, missing every one.

The girls duck behind a shelf as their attacker steals the man's gun, denying his final words of "wait wait, please!" As he fires it, killing him. Aria covers her mouth muffling her sobs, as ghostface eerily walks around the store taunting them with his gun.

Sam peers through the cracks in the aisle, as she hears ghostfaces movements. Aria peers down at her white shirt, now soaked in three mens blood. Sam glances at the two younger girls to her side, motioning for them to move to their left to dodge their attacker. The girls attempt a quiet escape, before Tara notices the attacker a few feet away from them, pulling the girls to a halt.

Aria, Sam and Taras breathing deepens as they spot ghostface in the mirror.

They try to slowly turn around, not realizing the killer was sprinting toward them! Aria launches her foot towards him, he lets out a grunt as she trips her attacker and grabs Sam and Taras hand. The three girls sprint across the store, as police sirens wave in their direction.

Tara kicks a shelf on their attacker in a final action, as the girls run outside trying to catch the cops attention.

"He's in there!" Sam says, and turns her head as cops swarm inside. Aria tilts her head, peering inside as she sights the absence of their attacker, who left nothing but a mask.
