chapter 25

CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE.

ARIA GULPED BEFORE SLOWLY STANDING UP and facing Ethan. She faced Sam's murderer, suddenly that's all he was. To her, this wasn't Ethan. This was a monster. Her weak, hurt body stood in front of him. Ethan gazed at her deeply, he couldn't hurt her. Not that he hadn't already.

"Aria,"

"No." She cut off. "You don't get to stand there, and act like I won't fucking kill you for what you just did." Ethan's gaze turns into fear as he realizes that by becoming a murderer, he has created one.

Aria tastes the blood in her mouth, as she looks down at her hands which are covered in her best friend's blood.

She takes a step forward before Ethan begins circling her, as she does the same.

"Aria, I'm not going to hurt you. I wouldn't ever."

"Hurt me?!" She shouted. "Ethan, you already have! You've hurt everyone!"

Her words sting as her cries terrorize Ethans mind. Both teens stare profoundly at the others tear and blood stained faces.

"I don't want to kill you, Aria!" He sobbed.

"You liar!" She cries. "How long have you been lying to me?" She asked through broken sobs. She holds her hand on her shoulder where blood drips down. Ethan takes another step closer, causing her to flinch back in fear.

"Ari, I would never hurt you!" He cried, holding his hand out trying to convince her. "Step back!" She shouts, picking up a piece of broken glass.

"Aria. Don't do this."

"You killed her." She cried. "You killed my friends. You killed Anika, you killed Chad. You killed Sam. You're going to kill me!" She chanted,

"Aria, stop!" He shouted, and grabbed Arias wrist.

"No!" She screamed, trying to loosen his grip on her. "Please, Ethan!" She cried, as Ethan pulled her in closer to him.

He jammed a knife into her stomach, the deepest stab wound she's ever gotten as she let out a blood curdling scream. He held his hand against her mouth so he wouldn't have to hear her final sobs. Life drains from his girlfriend's body as he quietly says,

"I didn't want to hurt you." through cries.

"Please, stop." She muffedly cried. Tears poured down Ethans face like a waterfall, as he continued sobbing at the sight of his girlfriend's pain.

His grip on her hand falls, this is the girl he loves. This is the girl he'd do anything for. "I love you." He sobbed, realizing that was the first time he ever said that to her.

"You always were a shitty liar." Aria mumbled, tears pouring down her face before she quickly turned and jammed the broken glass into his jaw. She watched as her boyfriend's blood oozed out through his teeth, as his murderous look of sorrow changed to betrayal. Her grip tightened as she continued pressing the glass into his jaw.

Her sadness and fear turned to rage as she realized that he was no longer the boy she loved. This wasn't her Ethan, this was her enemy.

This was Anika's murderer. This was Chad's murderer, this was Sam's murderer. This boy before her was pure evil. He could convince himself that he loved her, and convince himself that he changed, but it wouldn't bring back the lives that he cost.

Blood continues pouring out of her stomach, causing her to groan in agonizing pain, as her boyfriend takes a fall, which in a final act kills him.

Aria stands, witnessing the blood bath before her. she realizes she could not save her friends, and she cannot save herself. She looks down at her stomach, she realizes that the blood is pouring out of her body just as fast as her life is.

She slumps down on the wall next to Ethans deceased body. She lays her head down, as she stares into his lifeless eyes. As her final act, she slowly moves her hand onto Ethans, holding his hand. Tears slowly stream down her face, as she accepts the inevitable fate she would've eventually faced.

Aria takes her last breath, before police sirens ring in the distance.
