CHAPTER NINETEEN

ARIA STUMBLED DOWN THE STAIRS to the subway with her friends. She was holding her boyfriend's wrist as the crowded platforms became more suffocating. "Sure there's no other way there?" Danny asks his girlfriend.

"We're not exactly in a place to be picky, cute-boy." Aria answered. She turned over to Chad, who signaled for her to walk near him. "One sec." The girl said to her boyfriend, as she made her way to her best friend.

"Hey, did you and Ethan have a fight or something?" He asked. Aria returned a confused expression before stating "What? No?"

Chad shrugs his shoulders and says "He was acting weird in the bathroom."

"Weird like how?"

"Like, he sounded like he had been crying."

Aria was about to respond, when Chad hurriedly grabbed her wrist and hurried to the train. "Shit, come on!" He muttered to her. They were a few steps from getting on when Aria turned back to her boyfriend and Mindy.

"Guys, come on!" She said, before Danny pulled her on with Chad.

"Shit." She muttered, pressing her hand up to the door, looking at Mindy.

The train started moving as Aria peered over to Ethan who crept behind Mindy, but when the vehicle got faster she lost sight of them.

"Where's Mindy?" Sam asked the girl, to which Aria replied "She's separated from us. Ethan too."

"It's okay she's catching the next train," The twin says, peering down at his phone. "She's alone with Ethan?" Tara asked, alluding more to her suspicion of him.

Aria rolled her eyes before tightening her grip on the subway strap. "I'm sure they're fine." Sam replies, peering over to Aria. Tara looks away, noticing the stranger dressed in a ghostface costume.

The variety of halloween costumes made it harder to differentiate between a harmless stranger or their attacker. "Guys," Tara says, catching everyone's attention.

Aria limps due to her stab wound, and tumbles closer to her best friend Chad.

"Is that..?" Aria begins to say.

"I don't know." Sam cuts off. She tilts her head, staring profoundly at ghostface.

Aria deepens her breathing as Tara takes her hand.

"We're okay, right?" Tara asked her friend. Aria nodded unsurely.

Aria continued checking her phone, when Chad tapped her signaling to the two other ghostfaces spotted on the train. Arias eyes widened in fear as she saw them. She bit the inside of her cheek.

"How many more stops do we have?" She turned and asked Sam. The older girl leaned over to map, and her eyes narrowed as she announced, "Ten."

Aria let out a sigh, before the train came to a sudden stop, almost making her fall over. "Make that 9." She mumbled as she stood back up.

Her eyes widened as she saw the two of the ghostfaces in costume walk over to them, but luckily got off the train.

Sam let out a sigh of relief she didn't know she was holding in. Aria rubbed her arm in understandment.

Aria felt a tap on her shoulder, she looked back finding herself staring at her best friend chad. He scooted closer to her. "Hey, you okay?" He asked the girl who anxiously replied with a nod.

"I just need to get off this train." She mumbled.

A few stops later, Aria was scrolling on her phone trying to make the time go by. Her attention quickly rose to the lights that were flickering above her.

"Great." She muttered, as the carpenter sisters looked up at the ghostly lights.

To their luck, the next stop was theirs. The group of friends quickly got off the train as Aria and Chad peered down at their phones that still had no messages. Aria rolled her eyes before pushing through the crowded platforms, when her phone rang.

'No Caller Id.'
