What is he doing here? And more importantly, why do I pick this day to wear sweatpants out in public? I slump down in the passenger seat and try to make myself invisible.

Of course, who is the first person I see from home? Ethan Sims. And I'm wearing sweatpants.

Ethan Sims is my long time crush. I'm pretty sure I have liked him since the day I could walk. We were really close in kindergarten, but after he had knocked me into that mud puddle, he had been nothing but distant. Of course I forgave him, as that was what led to me meeting my two best friends, but he never wanted to be my friend after that. I sigh.

I awkwardly tumbled out of the car, managing a small wave, and trying to imagine myself in a nice outfit, with my hair brushed and makeup on.

God, how did I let myself leave the house with this on? I forget this and flash a smile in their direction.

My brother was the first to break the silence.

"Mom, Brynna, I'm sure you remember Ethan. His dad's job got moved and now he's living in England. He will start going to Livingston High this coming week."

Really?

I go to Livingston High.

I'm not complaining, I love the fact that Ethan Sims, the boy I've liked since kindergarten is going to attend my new school all the way across the globe. But this also means that I will embarrass myself too many times to count.

When I'm around him, I can't think straight. He has piercing blue-green eyes that contrast against his floppy light brown hair. His teeth are perfectly straight and has just the right amount of muscle.

Okay so imagine this. I'm just walking math class, when suddenly, BAM! I run into Ethan going around a corner. My cheeks heat up to the color of cherries.

"I..........um....."

Words, Brynna, words!

"Sorry about that," I manage to spit out, making no effort to make eye contact.

With Ethan going to my school again, things like this could happen at any second, and I am SO not ready for it.

****************

"Brynna, Addison, Sophia! Get in the car!" I hear my brother yell from downstairs.

When I insist on taking my own car to school, my parents deflect the idea, as I only have one more year until I will be taking Addison and Sophia to school and Noah will be off to college.

I'm in a nice, yet comfortable outfit as I plop down in the passenger seat.

The drive to the elementary school is full of blasting songs on the radio and all of the Bradley kids, quite out of tune, singing along.

When we arrive at the twins school, they hop out of the car and race to the door. I give them a wave from the seat and watch them get inside.

My brother turns down the radio. "Hey, since you know Ethan, make sure to keep an eye on him today okay?"

The look on my face was like I had seen a ghost.

Me? Take care of Ethan? Yeah, see I couldn't even talk to Ethan, let alone watch out for him.

"Um..okay?" I made it sound more like a question and Noah looked at me quizzically.

He didn't ask me what was wrong though, and I silently thanked him, because he would push for answers if he knew something was wrong.

But that's just the kind of brother that he is.

**************

I push through the front door, and I'm pleasantly surprised to find that it only takes me a minute to get to first period, where I find Brooklyn, one of the only people at my new school that I would consider a friend.

"Hey did you hear we got a new kid?" she asks with a shimmer in her eye.

"Yep, he actually went to my school in the U.S." I answer with as much enthusiasm as I could muster.

"Woah," she breathes staring at someone who came in the door.

I whip my head around to find Ethan, surveying the classroom and finding a seat right next to me.

"You didn't tell me he could be on America's Next Top Model!" she shrieks with excitement in her voice.

I shoot her a smug look as if to say sorry, but I start cracking up instead.

Ethan gives me a sideways glance and smiles.

"Hey," he said.

Come on Brynna, you can do it.

"Hi," I squeak, "Welcome to Livingston High."

Chapter two! Check!

Sorry if this is confusing, I'll try to add details in the author's note or in the actual story.

If there is any grammatical errors, I am very sorry.

Allow me to explain who Brooklyn is.

She is pretty much the only person in the entire school (except for Ethan) that Brynna trusts and is her friend. She has long, shiny brown hair and brown eyes. She is fairly tall and plays basketball.

Anyway, what did you think? Did you like this chapter?

Feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you thought.
