Standing around Veta's bed, the crew all had their eyes closed. Neena and Guardian Babe were crying, and you could tell Lux was more pissed off than sad. Ser on the other hand didn't really have a reaction, his face was stone cold.
As for Onyx, he didn't really know what to feel. This was the first time he had truly cared for someone who wasn't his sister, and now, he has all these feelings for not just Veta, but the whole crew.
Within the short period he had been with them, they felt sorta like a family. They understood him, had the same values as him, they got along great. He was respected and was favored. Maybe he belonged here more than he did with his sister, more than he did with his mothers.
Eventually, the mourning would end, and Neena would break the silence.
"So... what do we do about her body?" she asked, her voice shaky from crying. "Burying her I mean, where are we doing that."
"Veta wanted to be buried back on Underth, her home. It would be a dishonor not to listen to her wishes," Lux responded, not taking his eyes off her body.
"It would take days to get to that system though, it's best we wait until after completing the mission," Ser chimed in, sounding a bit determined to find the prison, which was odd.
Nodding his head, Lux left the medbay, but stopped at the door, turning his head toward his crew.
"Everyone get some rest, we need full energy and strength for our raid against the prison," After he was done, he walked to the map room, leaving the rest of them in the medbay.
Standing around Veta's lifeless body, the team looked at each other. Without a word spoken, they'd each leave and go their separate ways.
Entering his room, Onyx closed the door behind him and locked it. Facing the now closed door, a tear rolled down his face.
"What have I done...," he whispered, softly banging his hand on the door.
In his mind, all he could think about was how much he messed up. He murdered his own parents, fought against his own sister whom he loved. He betrayed everyone who ever truly loved him. He really was a villain.
Slowly, the banging on the door got harder and harder. As he punched, his hand began to get red, and blood started seeping out from his knuckles.
As he punched, tears rapidly rolled down his cheeks and his face got beet red. He continued punching, a dent in the metal gradually started to form, and once he stopped, it was much larger than his hand.
Standing still, breathing heavily and still holding his fist out in front of him, Onyx turned away from the door and approached his bed, sitting down and grabbing a towel to clean his hand.
Staring out the window in his room, he sighed as the final tear rolled down.
"I'm sorry Sapphire... maybe you're better off without me...," he sniffled, lying down and resting his head on his pillow. Closing his eyes, he drifted off to sleep as the soft whirring noises of the engine played in his head.
Meanwhile, in the engine room of the ship, Neena sat on the ground against the wall, bawling her eyes out. Her hand covered her mouth as she cried, making sure no one would hear her. She preferred not to be emotionally vulnerable near people, it defeats the purpose of her brave and daring demeanor.
Although she never showed it, she loved Veta more than anyone. In private, they had been together, they were more than friends, and now, the one she loved was dead. Her whole world, crumbled right in front of her.
There wasn't much for her to live for now. Her own people exiled her, her lover was dead, all she had left was a crew that was slowly falling apart.
After a few minutes of letting herself go, she composed herself and stood up, walking out of the room. She made her way to the map room, where Lux sat, staring intently at the holographic table.
