Chapter 7

"Nikolai, mon nounours, was exactly the same, couldn't wait, impatient, but that is the Valdez-Volkov men." We were in the garden, overlooking Aleksey playing around. She wound her arm around my waist, tugging me along. "They're determined and dedicated; don't let previous behaviour deter you from him, nor class. The more time people spend with you, the more they love you, and you're going to be their Luna, their Queen; they'll learn to respect you." Determined was an understatement, as was impatient. Each of the Valdez-Volkov family members were determined, you could see it in how they live their life and their pack relations.

"How did you deal with this? The whole royalty and class thing?" She seemed thoughtful for a moment, carefully selecting her answer.

"I had to accept the mating bond, a war was around the corner and they needed a Luna. Nikolai's parents had abdicated, his pack was close to being slaughtered and I needed to do it for him. It was love at first sight. Le cœur a ses raisons que la raison ne connaît point. My reason was for saving not only the pack, but also to save him."

My heart yearned for Deimos, I couldn't deny it anymore. I wanted him; I didn't care about the consequences or what came with being with him. The past two weeks had been hell; every look that had been thrown my way had been one of utter heartbreak. Every time he tried to talk to me, Aslan whisked me away, claiming that I had some kind of errand to do. I'd been thankful, after explaining to Aslan the situation, he wanted what was best but I knew that it came at a cost; his friendship with Deimos was becoming strained.

I couldn't let this go on anymore, I had to make things right, I had to accept him. "Excuse me, Florence, I've got to go." A smile broke out on her face, as she tightly wrapped her arms around me.

"Good girl," Florence pushed me in the direction of the royal wing with a wink and ran off to tackle Aleksey. My heart hammered in my chest as my breathing picked up. Was this really the right choice? Yes, it was.

I stood outside of his door, hand in position to knock but I couldn't. Come on, he's just my mate, stop being so stupid, Soleil. Still it didn't move. Goddess damn it, knock! Shaking, I brought my fist down with 3 quick taps. I shouldn't have done it, what if he was sleeping? What if I took too long and he didn't want me? Before anymore whims could pass the door opened and he stood there in all his glory.

"Soleil," To say he was shocked was an understatement. "What, uh, are you doing here?" My eyes scanned over him, I was right, tattoos ran from his neck down to his feet various religious symbols and iconic faces were sprawled across his body. He looked good. I licked my lips before my eyes met his.

"I need to talk to you." He nodded, side stepping to let me in. His room was huge, a TV sat adjacent to his bed with various consoles underneath, his curtains were opened wide to display the view of the gardens. He sat, his hands clasping his bare thighs, nothing but boxer shorts covered him which left little to the imagination. "Um... I don't know quite how to phrase this," I should have really prepared for this. "I, uh, I want to accept you as my mate." My eyes looked everywhere but his, to the windows, to the walls and then resting on him. Dumbfounded and flabbergast was all that could be said for his expression.

"You want to accept me?" I nodded. Deimos ran a hand over his face, peeking through his fingers. "Are you sure? Am I dreaming?" A giggle left my lips.

"You're not dreaming, I want to accept you." His arms wrapped around me, sweeping me off the floor. My head buried deep into his neck, taking a deep intake of his scent. "I know I haven't been the best these past few weeks, and I would like to apologise for my behaviour. I should have accepted you when I met you; I was scared, I'm sorry."

"Little one, it's okay. It's all okay, I have you know and that's all I wanted. You are my world, buttercup." Deimos gaze never faltered nor showed hints of lies. "We'll start anew, okay?"

"Okay."

His lips smashed onto mine, desperate, needy, almost as though they held the key to immortality. I kissed back in need, wrapping my arms around his neck, bringing him closer. Warmth spread throughout my whole body, like fingers trailing against my skin. His lips left mine, trailing down until he reached my neck. He stopped; a small whimper escaped my lips. He smiled into me, before returning back up and kissing my lips again.

I pulled away, before realising we had ended up on the bed with my shirt unbuttoned and skirt on the floor. "We have to stop, before we regret it." My voice breathy and uneven as I pushed myself up.

"I wouldn't regret a moment of it." He said, watching as I walked to pick my skirt up. "Seeing you, spread out on the bed, vulnerable and Innocent." Deimos' voice became husky, sensual, his eyes closing as he pictured it. To say I wasn't turned on was an understatement; my knees became weak at the thought as my core began to burn. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't throw you on this bed and make you mine right now."

"I, I, uh." He stood up, with the grace of a tiger going in for the kill, he cornered me.

"I'm listening, princess." His hand shot to my waist, fingers trailing over my skin as Goosebumps prickled.

"I have to go to work" I barely made out as he watched my lips.

"You're discharged from your duties; you no longer need to work. I can provide everything for you." His lips smashed onto mine once more, my train of thought beginning to lose itself as all I could make out was his body on mine.

"Take me." I whispered, and with that his hand gripped my bra and ripped it off.
