Stanislav in the gif

Chapter 8

She was beautiful and I couldn't help myself. I know I should have waited but I needed her as mine, I couldn't wait any longer. My fingers trailed up her back, tracing the scars on her body. They were a faint red, lying flat against her skin. Stretching across the length of her back, dusted across the surface of her arms and etched across her legs but the prettiest of all her scars was the one that rest in the crook of her neck. My chest swelled as I gazed at the teeth marks that remained on the area that connected her neck to her shoulders. I gently brushed it, feeling each bump that came with it.

A moan left her lips before her cheeks flushed red. The alexandrite eyes met mine before pulling in closer to me. "Do you regret it, Lisichka?"

"No" My wolf purred at our little fox, happy that she didn't regret last night. "When you said you discharged me, what did you mean?" She looked up, innocent as anything.

"You're my mate, you don't need to work, we have the world at our fingertips." I brushed her hair from her face, cupping her cheek as I spoke.

"Does that mean I no longer look after Aleksey? I can't just drop everything" Her heartbeat was steadily increasing.

"Please, Lisichka, don't fret, I mind linked Mrs Fergus last night, I told her the situation, you are relieved of your duties, your belongings will be brought up while we're at breakfast. Aleksey will have to put up with a new nanny." She frowned.

"I don't want a new nanny for Aleksey" Why was she so attached to him? He's six, he'd get over it.

"Soleil, he'll be fine. You'll see him every day, hell; you'll be sat next to him every breakfast, lunch and dinner."

"What?"

"You're not a maid anymore, Soleil, you'll sit with us at the dinner table, you're going to be a Valdez-Volkov." She looked scared.

"But what if they don't like me?" She was silent, barely even there if not for my werewolf hearing.

"They'll like you, Lisichka. C'mon, we best be making our way to breakfast, don't want to disappoint anyone."

//Soleil//

His hand was a lifeboat amongst crashing waves. I felt like a traitor, my friends stood around serving upon us as I sat indulging in fancy food.

"So Soleil, please, tell us about what you do?" Anastasiya asked as she leaned forward. Her blond hair falling over her shoulders as her blue eyes gazed into mind. I played with his fingers. Shit, what did I do?

"I worked as a maid here and a nanny to Aleksey." A pang hit my heart as I replayed the scene from earlier.

'"Lee-Lee, you missed our bed time story." I looked over to the little chap, whose eyes were wide with tears. "And you didn't come see me this morning, was it because I bit you?" His voice filling with sadness as he made his way into my arms.

"No, Lecky, I'm afraid I'm no longer your nanny." He ripped himself away from my lap.

"Why?" Oh goddess, I was breaking a six year olds heart, stupid Deimos.

"Well, your brother is my mate, I don't have to work. You'll see me every meal time and I'll come in and read to you."

"No, I hate you." He ran, tears streaming from his face. '

"Oh, you were a maid?" I nodded, she sounded less enthusiastic. Irina and Svetlana were the other two sisters of Deimos. They had very similar features to Anastasiya, except Irina's hair appeared wavier and seemed darker whereas Svetlana had the beautiful Hessonite eyes.

"Please, excuse my sister, she was hoping for a new roommate at school." Stanislav smirked as he leaned over and picked on his younger sister. Anastasiya was only 17, much like I, whereas Svetlana and Stanislav being twins were 21 enjoying the perils of university. Irina however, was 23, travelling the world for alliances with packs and to find the all-important mate.

"Well, if Soleil wants, after the ball she can attend Sapienti Academy, but you can't pressure her into going" All eyes fell upon me as Florence spoke to her youngest daughter. "Soleil, would you like to join my daughter at Sapienti?" Sapienti, the rich kid boarding school? I couldn't afford that.

"I'm sorry, Florence, but I can't afford it, I hadn't saved enough to probably get me through the front door."

"Soleil, you'll be a Valdez-Volkov before long, there's no need to pay for yourself anymore."

"But, I'd like to."

"Hey, no more of that, we'll pay for you, think of it as a 'congratulations you've mated gift'!" My face was probably the colour of a tomato by the looks of Stanislav belly rumbling laughter. Deimos joined in before most of the table were in small giggles. "Oh, you lot shh. I'll embarrass you lot a lot worse when it comes to finding your mates." Florence scolded her children before smiling at me.

'Thank you' she said through the mind link.

"So, Deimos, have you told Soleil about the ball yet?" Nikolai questioned his son as he lifted a spoon to his lips.

"No, actually, it completely slipped my mind."

"You could introduce her to the rest of the pack and Alphas that come along." The table had quietened now, as they watched the slightly tense words between father and son.

"Sure, dad." Deimos gripped my hand tighter under the table, brushing his fingers over my knuckles. 'Soleil, would you consider being my beautiful date for the winter ball?' I thought about it for a moment, would the Wolfgang pack be there? I don't think I could handle looking into his face and knowing how he framed my father. I couldn't let Deimos down; I had to do it for him.

'Of course" We exchanged smiles with each other.

"We could go shopping, just us girls." Irina pretty much squealed as she wiggled in her seat. For someone who was 23, she sure didn't act like it sometimes. "Then we'd make Soleil really feel at home." They all smiled at me. Was this what I wanted though?
