Chapter 14

I sat at the table, my hands stretched out in front of me as Oscar sat beside me and Deimos sat on the other side. The tension was high to say the least, my mind flooding back to when I told Deimos he could come see me for the week.

"'Deimos?' I called out, my hands shaking as I wrung my hands, swallowing the bile that rose up. My breathing felt laboured as I waited for a reply. It had been so long.

'Lisichka?' My stomach dropped, his raspy voice felt like a wave of fresh air as I nearly moaned at the sound. A flood of warmth erupted around my body as I collapsed to the floor, my knees weak at the sound of him.

'Hi, darling'

'What? I mean... wha... Why...' I could feel the wave of emotions that rushed through his body, mainly confusion and sadness.

'Listen, I really need you to hear me out. We have a lot to talk about, but I'm going to tell you my location and you are going to come here alone, okay?'

'Yes! Yes! Absolutely, oh god, I've missed you so much!' A smile crept its way to my face as I thought about the next week. My last week.

'I'm in Ansaigar Centre, there's a house in the middle of the town. I'm staying there.'

'Okay! Okay! I'll get there as soon as possible and we can talk about whatever is on your mind, okay? It's just so, so, so good to hear from you.'

'You too, Deimos.'"

Oscar and Deimos were glaring at each other. "Biscuits anyone?" I cautiously asked as I pushed the plate forward, the sounds of the scrapes filling the room like a deafening scream. No one spoke. "Oscar do you mind leaving us for a second please, I would like to speak to Deimos alone." He nodded placing a kiss to my forehead as Deimos growled. I sighed, will boys ever get along?

We sat in silence for a few minutes before a scream broke it. Elsie. I didn't make a move, but his eyes flashed to the direction of it.

"What was that?" Curiosity filling his gorgeous features. Those features that I could look at for an eternity.

"That was Elsie." I said calmly, as I nibbled on one of the biscuits.

"Shouldn't we go help her?" I shook my head at him, the biscuit tasted kind of stale. "Why not? She's in pain."

"That's what we've got to talk about, Deimos." His face was filled with confusion.

"Um, sure." I should talk to him about the other thing too; I can't just let that slide.

"Why didn't you tell me about Skyler?" His face contorted to that of pain, before he quickly covered it up and placed one of the biscuits in my mouth.

"She isn't important." I was gobsmacked, not important my ass.

"She would have been the mother of your unborn child, why didn't you tell me?" Authority filled my voice as my eyes met his. He looked away, embarrassment evident from the slight blush that seemed to fill his cheeks and a hint of guilt mixed with sadness.

"I don't know, Soleil. I knew I should have told you straight away."

"You were starting a family before you even met me, even gave me a chance. What if that child had been born, were you going to destroy one home for another?"

"I'm sorry, Soleil. She wanted that kid, and I think I did too, I needed that relationship." That stung, I refused to show my emotions to him. Shaking my head, I picked at my nails. He wanted to start a family before he even met me. "That doesn't answer my question about why Elsie is screaming."

"Because there is a curse, Deimos."

"Well duh, there are thousands of curses, Soleil."

"No, Deimos. She only part of the curse." He eyebrows furrowed, as he tried to figure it out before realisation hit his face.

"Soleil Adhara Archimedes, do not tell me you are part of this curse." I stayed quiet, slowly raising my apologetic eyes to his. They flickered black and he whipped the table across the room, roaring as he did so. It hit the wall and splintered into millions of little wooden shards. "That's why you're here?!" His canines extended, knuckles turning white. "TELL ME!" His bones just begging to snap as his nails dug into my arms. His breath fanning my face as his gaze pierced me. I squirmed; this was harder than I thought. I should have done what Elsie did; kept him at arm's length.

"Yes, that is why I am here." I gently bit my lip, "But that wasn't the only reason, I had to get away."

"FROM WHAT?" His anger radiating from his body as he paced, throwing punch after punch into the wall. It hurt me seeing him like this.

"You. Your past. Your title."

"You said you'd accept it."

"And it takes time to adjust; I was thrust into that lifestyle like a bowling ball!" I screamed, standing up to attempt to meet his intimidating stand. He thought for a moment, turning his back to me. I want to reach out, to have my hand placed on his back and let the sparks flow between the two of us but I didn't, I need to keep my space while he was like this.

"What is your role in this curse, Soleil?" He knew the answer, he turned as I gave a sad, weak smile tears falling down my face.

"I'm sorry, Deimos." He crumbled, all walls thrown down as he collapsed in front of me, his head resting on my stomach and he crushed me to him. Large, heart wrenching sobs leaving his body. I looked up at the ceiling, willing my emotions not to get the best of me but the fucking bastards did it anyway.
