Epilogue

//Soleil//

My hands brushed over the grass beneath me, only a gentle breeze stirring the trees around me. I was in a small meadow, with brightly coloured flowers surrounding me and the sun beating down. I was lonely, I just seemed to do nothing but sit in this meadow; nobody was around, I had already tried calling out.

I wasn't hungry nor was I thirsty and although the days seemed to go past, as night time always came, I never craved for anything. It was as though I was stuck, my body in a constant state of numbness.

I lay back, what was I doing here? Why was I here?

A giggle bubbled in the air and I shot up, my eyes darting around the meadow, I can't see anybody. It erupted again, so close to my air that I could almost feel the warmth of their breath. I turned, nothing.

It continued, dancing around me like a shark waiting for the kill. "Hello?" I called out. "Anyone there?" It echoed before the giggling stop and a spark sliced the air. A girl sat in front of me, her dark hair tumbling around her shoulders as she lifted an eyebrow.

"My, my Soleil." Why is she calling me that? Who was she? "You look better than when you left." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"What do you mean?" Her head tilted to the side, calculating my next move.

"Don't tell me you've forgotten."

"Forgotten, what?" Now this was confusing, for as long as I could remember I had been here. I've never seen this girl in my life but she keeps calling me Soleil and speaks to me as though she knows me.

"Deimos and Acantha? Oscar? The curse?" I took a step back, now she was just crazy. Although, the name Deimos did sound familiar, a slight warmth hit my chest.

"I'm sorry; I don't know what you're talking about. I don't even know who I am" I whispered, the last part more to myself than to her. A slight gasp left her lips.

"Your name is Soleil, you died a year ago." My eyebrows furrowed, this wasn't right. I'm alive, admittedly I am lonely but nevertheless, does this meadow not prove I'm alive?

"No, I didn't." Her eyes seemed to turn soft, almost sad. Why was she sad?

"Please, your name is Soleil, you died a year ago. Your mate, Deimos, loves you very much." I shook my head, I didn't have a mate, and I don't even know who Deimos is. "You were used to break a curse, remember?" I tried hard to focus on her words, I really did but I had no connection to them. "Soleil, I need you to remember for me, Lisichka." My heart felt as though it was swelling in my chest, a slight pain eradiating to my forehead before the face of a heavily tattooed man with vibrant orange eyes danced across my vision.

"Do you remember Soleil?" I turned away, falling to my knees as the pain spread and more images danced across my vision. A young boy, similar to the tattooed man. Fire, lots and lots of fire. A blue and white castle surrounded by snow. Face after face seemed to pop up and I couldn't take it no more, I scream burst its way out of me.

I remembered.

I turned back towards her, Elsie. Wetness touched my cheeks as I embraced her, thankful for seeing her face. 1 year? How could she be here? I died!

"Elsie, what, how, why, I, I'm just so grateful you're here!" She squeezed back equally as tight.

"Soleil, after you died, something happened." Fear coursed through my veins, this didn't affect my family did it? Seeing my questioning gaze, she continued on. "Acantha came back, she's using your body but she's back." I nodded, that is a something happened but I don't feel like that's the one she was going for. "She went back on her word, claimed that we needed to kill a Bukowski brother and find her body."

"That's it? Why are you here?"

"We can't find the body." I stared at her, trying to find the encrypted code here.

"Turns out brining back a very old witch with a very big temper, leaves for a lot of revenge and we may or may not be in trouble. Also, thewerewolffamilymightbeintroublebecauseyoutwodidn'treproduceandDeimosismourningandnotdoinganything."

"What? Say it slowly; I didn't catch a word of that."

"The werewolf family might be in trouble because you two didn't reproduce and Deimos is mourning and not doing anything with the kingdom." I raised an eyebrow, if I was back on that Earth his butt would be scowled so badly right now. Reproduce? What did that have to do with anything?

"Why is that important?"

"Turns out if the first in line doesn't produce and heir for the throne with his mate, it then is open to anyone as he's not fit to rule and the other Valdez-Volkov boys can't step up as a certain piece of Azarola witch magic gets passed on."

"You're an Azarola witch, why don't you just transfer it?" Curious as to why they hadn't thought of this.

"It's dark magic and I'm not touching that again, I'm already shunned by both dead and alive witches. I barely have any magic left. I wasn't supposed to bring her back. She should have remained dead." Her eyes begged me to understand, I had to understand. Generation after generation of witches shunning you, that's got to be heart breaking and as a friend, I should understand.

"Okay, fine. I understand. What's this about Deimos?"

"He is a shell, he refuses to do anything and that's costing the kingdom. We need to find this body, and the brother; with him sat there it's useless! We can't get anything done because he's too busy moping. He is the only one of us with connections, connections that get us one step closer to finding that body and destroying her."

"You're going to destroy her?" She nodded, a blush coming to her cheeks. I smiled, serves that Acantha bitch right.

"Look at you, little miss badass." I said, as we joined in giggling. I chewed on my lips as the laughter died down. "I don't understand why you're here, Elsie." She gave me a sigh.

"The witches are giving me one last chance to not mess up magic and to right my wrongs." She paused, taking a large inhale of air. "Soleil, I need to bring you back to life." My eyes almost bugged out of my head.

"What? I've been dead for a year! I don't have a body! Do you see the lack of possibilities of me coming alive?"

"Do you trust me, Soleil?" She asked, desperate for me to look into her eyes. I nodded, butterflies filling my tummy. I had to think logically and clearly about this, I couldn't just charge head first into it and not care about the consequences. She held out her hand.

"Do you want to come back?"
