Chapter 11

"Soleil, please Lisichka, tell me what is wrong" He pleased, his hands gripping onto mine as desperation filled his eyes.

"How could you?!" I screamed, attempting to pull my hands from his but his vice like grip held on. He looked so confused; his hair clung to his forehead as his glasses sat nearly coming off his face. We were sat in bed; my refusal to even cuddle with him was what drew him to the fact that something was wrong.

"How could I what?"

"Say those things to the Alpha, why would you do that?"

"People wanted the Alpha dead and it was his job to eliminate them!" His voice gradually raising an octave with each word as he stared at me; he was losing his temper, pacing the room after he dropped my hands.

"He had no right to! There was no threat to him and he's a shitty Alpha anyway!" I was becoming frustrated, knee bouncing as I did so.

"How do you know? You're not in his pack!" I snapped, my head whipped towards him before a growl rippled through my teeth.

"I was in his pack; the family he was talking about was my family." His demeanour changed, eyes looking for forgiveness.

"Lisichka, I, I didn't mean what I said, I'm sorry." Unbelievable, fucking liar. Storming out of the room, I made a right and slipped into Aleksey's room.

"Soleil, what are you doing here?" The tension between the two of us had been diffusing and he was willing to speak to me again, even sneaked in a dance at the ball.

"Your brother needs to learn that there are two sides to a story." He tapped his bed, motioning me to sit.

"What do you mean?" He snuggled into my lap as I ran a hand through his hair, letting the events of the night sink in; I was all going so well until then. When they laughed and joked and made it seem as though the alpha did nothing wrong.

"He likes to see things one sided, doesn't consider the possible side that means someone gets framed."

"He's stupid like that, that's why his last girlfriend left, because he was saying stupid things and she didn't like it." I frowned, he was known for his womanizing ways but I never considered him having a girlfriend, and bringing her here to see his family.

"Aleksey, what did he do, tell me."

"Her name was Skyler Keller, she was tall, taller than you, and she used to have long blonde wavy hair but she always used to get frustrated at it." He smiled at the thought of her, eyes lighting up. "They'd been what momma calls 'high-school sweethearts', they used to get into fights a lot because she was vampire royalty and he was werewolf royalty, he used to drink a lot and come home late and then all of a sudden it changed, they were happy again before she left. Everyone refused to talk about it, but every anniversary he always gets upset about it and clutches some weird black and white picture; it doesn't even have a face on it or anything, just a weird blob."

"You've seen it?"

"Yeah, it's in his drawer, it looks like an alien."

Her heart stopped, her skin ran cold and fear struck her. She couldn't be here, she didn't belong here, she had to leave, she had to get away. Lightly tucking Aleksey into bed, I kissed his forehead before sprinting down to Aslan's room. My hand slammed down with dull thuds before the door was wrenched open.

"What's wrong?" Worry consumed his features before he pulled me into a hug, his scent wrapping its way around me.

"Why did no one tell me about Skyler? I had to hear it off Aleksey! I feel like an idiot!" Tears rolled down my face as he pulled me close, hand rubbing circles into my back. "I've got to leave, and you've got to help me." He seemed apprehensive, knowing he could risk his job, his friendship and possibly his life.

"Soleil, you need to think about this clearly, don't you think you're overreacting? You know he loves you, you're mates for goddess sake."

"Aslan, I am asking for your help, you can either help me or I will do it myself."

"I will get you a car and that is as far as I will help you, from then on you are by yourself because I can't risk this." I could feel a smile break over my face, my arms once again wrapping around him as I brought him close but I couldn't help see the uneasiness and worry in his eyes.

"Not a word of this to anyone." He nodded setting me back of the floor.

"Grab a small bag, the car is on its way." He squeezed my hand before pushing me in the direction of upstairs. I couldn't help but be thankful to him, my feet trailing into the wardrobe before dumping some clothes into a bag and making my way into the foyer. I pulled my hood up, spotting Aslan.

"Now, the car is just outside, it'll take you to a safe house run by some wolves, his name is Oscar, and he'll look after you. If the prince forces me to tell him your where about, I will only be able to tell him you're with Oscar, I know nothing else, okay?" I nodded.

"Thank you, Aslan."

"I hope you understand what you're going to do with leaving."

"I just need some time away from this place, I'll be back." He bit his lip, hesitant to say something.

"Okay, well you best be going, come back soon, okay?"

"Okay." I hugged him before climbing into the car, waving as we pulled off.
