Once they got themselves safely settled at 12 Grimmauld place after escaping the death eaters (Y/N) went and sat alone, the others looked at her wearily. She knew she would have to get her act together if they were going to find these horcruxes. Hermione approached her hesitantly "Do you want to talk about it?"

(Y/N) sighed "Not really."

Hermione tried again "I know you're upset (Y/N) but talking might help."

(Y/N) looked at her "You're right" and she told them everything, Harry, Hermione and even Ron looked annoyed at Fred and sad for her. They consoled her until in the end (Y/N) said "OK I have talked about it, and I don't want too anymore. I don't even want to think about him, no offense Ron I know he's your brother" Ron nodded to show it was ok "But I just want to focus on finding and destroying these horcruxes, that's the most important thing now. So, I just want to focus on that if that's ok?" Harry and Ron nodded but Hermione had more to say.

"I understand that" She spoke tentatively "and of course we will respect your wishes, but I know Fred loves you I just know it and maybe you will work it out someday."

"Well, he has a funny way of showing it and to be honest I don't see how, we may never see each other again" (Y/N) stated flatly.

"Don't say that" Hermione protested.

"Hermione! Please can you just drop it" and with that Hermione went silent.

...

Weeks and months went by, and (Y/N) put everything she had into the mission, but there were times when not much was happening that she couldn't help but think of Fred. Was he ok, was he missing her? Was he even still alive? Would they ever have a chance to work things out? She loved him so much, and she kept having nightmares about him. Oh, how she wished they hadn't left things that way. She knew the others heard her crying at night, and that she wasn't coping well but they didn't mention it as they knew she didn't want to speak about it.

Things deteriorated, she thought things were going fairly well up until they had stolen the locket from the ministry and had to abandon their hideout to start camping with hardly anything to eat, and worse Harry didn't know how to destroy it so even (Y/N) (who usually supported Harry the most) had doubts. Tempers were fraying, they were getting nowhere, and were constantly living in fear and on the run. The enchantments round their campsite helped them feel a little safer, but they still moved regularly.

She always felt worse when she had to put the locket on, it made her relive her darkest fears. And she could hear voices in her mind telling her that Fred didn't love her, that he didn't miss her, and he was probably fucking that girl right now. It also made her nightmares worse; she knew logically that it was just the darkness in the horcrux making her feel this way, and she could tell it was affecting the others the same way, but it still didn't make things any better. She was thoroughly depressed.

Then things got worse when Ron left, (Y/N) kept largely quiet during the row, until, just before he left he accused Hermione of choosing Harry over him which brought back her memories of Fred, and she let her fury out on Ron. "WHAT IS IT WITH YOU WEASLEYS!!" so loudly that they all jumped "You're just like Fred! There is nothing going on between Harry and Hermione, just like there is nothing going on between me and Harry. For God's sake, wake up will you! Don't we have enough shit gong on without you being a fucking baby, grow up Ron! Harry loves Ginny, I love Fred and Hermione loves you! And if you're too dim-witted to see that then you don't deserve her! Hermione deserves better if you treat her this way and quite frankly, I have had enough so piss off and don't come back" And without saying anything more he left, Hermione went after him, but it was too late.

(Y/N) took care of Hermione, they had a lot to relate to now and they were grateful for each other's company, and she felt bad for Harry as well. But they had other things to focus on, finding the sword of Gryffindor. After weeks and many more disasters things changed. (Y/N) was in the tent with Hermione when Harry suddenly called for them, they came out the tent to see Ron standing next to Harry with the sword and a destroyed horcrux. (Y/N) was so shocked she couldn't speak, but Hermione went crazy at Ron until him and Harry explained the silver doe, that Ron had saved Harry's life and destroyed the horcrux.
