Time passed as it inevitably did, and (Y/N) wasn't finding things any easier it felt like there had been nothing but funerals to attend, and there was so much to sort out. The first thing she did was join Hermione to find their parents and return their memories. Once (Y/N) had explained everything to her mum (Y/M/N) hugged her sobbing and wouldn't let go for a long time. She sobbed even harder when she told her about Fred "(Y/N) I'm so sorry, he was such a nice young man, and I know how happy he made you."

Her mum also attended Fred's funeral which was much needed support for (Y/N), and Mrs Weasley was thrilled to see (Y/M/N) again. The funeral was a beautiful service and there were hundreds of people, (Y/N) remembered that much but other than that it was a blur, it was such a hard day and (Y/N) couldn't stop crying.

Since the funeral (Y/N) distanced herself from the Weasleys she still saw Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Luna but she couldn't face going round to see the other Weasleys. Her mum still went but she couldn't, it wasn't meant in offense there was just too many memories of Fred, and she couldn't set foot into his shop. She had told them she hadn't wanted any of Fred's things it was just too painful. She had kept her pygmy puffs and engagement ring and that was enough. She knew deep down that a part of the memories of the burrow and the shop that made it so impossible were she couldn't face running into George, she felt guilty, but she just couldn't look at him without seeing Fred.

It was strange they had been united in the battle of Hogwarts but after she just couldn't face him, and she knew she had hurt his feelings as her mum had said that Mrs. Weasley had told her that George was missing (Y/N) as she had been closest to Fred apart from him, but it was just too painful.

It was like seeing Fred's ghost every time she looked at him and it made her burst into tears every time. No, the only way to move on was to distance herself. She was going back to Hogwarts with Hermione to finish her education and get her NEWTS. It was going to be hard to face Hogwarts as she had so many memories with Fred there, but she had to do this, he would want her to finish her education.

...

"Are you ok?" Hermione asked when they arrived at Hogwarts "I know it's hard for you to be here where..." Hermione trailed off she knew Hermione had been about to say where Fred died.

"it's hard" she conceded "but I need to do this, Fred would want me too."

Hermione nodded "(Y/N) I need to talk to you about this, we have given you time, lots of time, and I know everyone deals with these things differently but well... you have been avoiding people. Not us but you know the other Weasleys, the burrow, the shop."

(Y/N) sighed "there are too many memories there Hermione."

Hermione looked disbelieving "But... there are memories here, I mean you met and fell in love here and he di-"

"Died here I know what's your point?"

Hermione was tentative, obviously worried about upsetting her "well it's just that if you can come here where the worst memories are, I'm wondering if you're just avoiding the real reason you can't go to the burrow or the shop."

"Who are you to say where my worst memories are?" (Y/N) said flaring up then she deflated "I'm sorry" (Y/N) apologised. "I know you're trying to help, and I don't want to argue, and the truth is you're right. I had been discussing it with my therapist" she paused for a second "You sound just like her actually" (Y/N) added laughing.

Hermione smiled "you're seeing a therapist? Well, that's good is it helping?"

"Yeah, my mum made me go as I was having nightmares, flash backs, anxiety, low mood. Stuff like that you know after everything and because I wasn't doing well without Fred" Hermione nodded sympathetically as she continued "but yeah it helps loads and I'm getting better she said I have PTSD."

Hermione hugged her but (Y/N) found she kept talking, it was like a river that wouldn't stop flowing. "It was great to find out what's wrong, and you can get better which I am slowly every day. But I know I have these things to work through."

"It takes time" said Hermione "I think most of us have needed therapy after the war."

"Yeah, my therapist said there was a lot of PTSD cases. I think they have been swamped I mean we have to go to wizard therapists, couldn't take this to the muggle ones you would be put in an asylum" and they both laughed.

"ok" (Y/N) said after a pause "at first it was partly because I couldn't face being where we had memories but now, I'm getting better with that which is why I have been able to come back here finally. I feel like I can remember the memories with fondness now, and I can honour his memory where he fell. So yeah, I have still been using that as an excuse for not going to the burrow and the shop when I have another reason..." she trailed off not being able to finish.

"it's George, isn't it?" asked Hermione.

(Y/N) laughed "perceptive as ever! You know you would make a good therapist."

"Don't change the subject (Y/N)!" Although (Y/N) could see she looked pleased.

(Y/N) held her hands up "Alright" she said "Yes it's about George, it's just every time I look at him, I see Fred and it's just too much..." She trailed off.

"Don't you think George has the same problem every time he looks in the mirror? At least you can get away from it he can't" Hermione said.

(Y/N) felt a prickle of guilt "I guess I forgot... I mean it seems so obvious now you say it, but I was just so wrapped up in my own grief. I've been selfish" She looked down sadly.

"No, you haven't it's just the way you dealt with it. But well, you can't avoid him forever and he can't help looking like Fred, I think you should talk to him" She suggested.

"Why do you think it's so important that we are friends?" (Y/N) asked.

"I think you two could help each other" said Hermione. (Y/N) was silent thinking, Hermione was right she had been unfair, but it was so hard. "Just give me till I have finished my exams, I need a bit more time. I want to busy myself in this and then I will deal with it."

"Ok just don't leave things too long" Hermione said.

(Y/N) shook her head laughing "what's so funny?" Hermione asked puzzled.

"I was just thinking about when I tell my therapist about this conversation how impressed she will be at my progress" and Hermione grinned.
