After a few weeks of training both Ria and Chris felt stronger and more in control of themselves than they ever have. They also felt closer to each other than ever. They decided to take a weekend off, it had been ages since they went camping at their spot, and it seemed like the weather was going to be nice enough this coming weekend for them to take a little solo trip.

They left early on friday and hiked the familiar trail up to their crystal pool. They set up camp, made lunch and relaxed next to the water all afternoon. It was perfect. Sunbeams hitting the water through the trees, the two of them lounging on the log next to the campfire. Technically it was light out...and sunny, so they didn't really need the fire, but it was kind of a tradition and it just stuck.

"Chris" Ria said tentatively "I think we should try to face each other transformed".

She looked over at Chris, expecting her to fight back on the idea, but she found a soft look playing on her girlfriend's face. "I think you're right" she said. "We can train as much as possible with Appo and Armin, but if we don't try and face each other, we'll never know if any of that training paid off... wait... is that why you wanted to come here this weekend?" she asked, sounding a little angry

"Not ONLY that, but yeah it was a part of it" she replied "I also just really wanted to get you alone" she said moving closer to Chris

Chris stood up, (hopfeully) fake angry "Goddamnit Ria, you and your little schemes, why didn't you just tell me? I could have mentally prepared myself"

"I'm sorry... I was worried that you would say no if I told you before we came" said Ria apologetically

Chris sat back down, Ria took her hand and twined their fingers together, "Look, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to keep it from you, I just... I was worried you'd say no" j

" 'sfine" Chris said into Ria's shoulder. She should be used to Ria's little plots and plans by now, but she clearly wasn't "so when do you want to do it?" she asked

"There's no time like the present" Ria giggled nervously

Chris looked at her through eyelashes, less than impressed, but more beautiful than ever.

"So how did you envision this happening miss great schemer of things?" asked Chris

"I was thinking that maybe you could transform while I was still human, so we can see if you can control yourself like that. I'm assuming you can since my transformation back into a human in the past has triggered you transforming back too" said Ria

"Mmhmm" said Chris "and then genius?"

"Well the next part you're obviously not going to like... cause this is where I'm going to transform and you're going to have to try and not kill me" Ria said

"What if something goes wrong Ria? What if I actually do kill you?" came Chris' worried voice

"You won't baby... you won't. I've become so much stronger and faster, I've uncovered more powers and if all else fails I'll just transform back into a human" Ria tried to pacify Chris

"I have a bad feeling about this Ria" she said

"And I have a good feeling about YOU being able to control yourself" Ria smiled

Chris shook her head, resigned to her fate. She knew there was no convincing Ria otherwise when she got like this. She nodded her agreement and was almost tackled off the log with the force of the hug from Ria.

"Let's do this!" she said

"Fine... let's do this" echoed Chris

Ria didn't seem nervous at all as she emerged from the tent wearing nothing but her swimsuit. All Chris could think about is how much open skin that is for her to pierce with that gigantic blade. She knew there was no going back now. She also knew that Ria was probably super excited to see her transform and not have to run away immediately.

She took out the little knife from her silver cross and started her transformation. Ria looked on in awe ( she seemed to be in awe a lot these days ) she was a little freaked out when Chris lifted off the ground and light came out of her mouth, eyes and ears, it was even weirder when her eyes rolled back into their sockets and she saw those ink black holes staring back at her. The very last part of the transformation was the appearance of Chris' sword. Gigantic blade at her side, ready for whatever may come at her. She looked so cool, it was like something out of a book.

She wore what looked like a habit, but it was more like a cape billowing behind a type of overall bodysuit/catsuit thing. Her hair was hidden under a wimple, a white band stretching around her head and black cloth hanging in traditional nun-style. She legitimately looked like a warrior nun. Especially with the cross around her neck, shining in the afternoon sun.

She looked at Ria with those pitch black eyes and said "better run Glitha".

Ria almost crapped herself at the sound of Chris' voice. It was barely more than a whisper, raspy and definitely not the voice of her girlfriend. She was about to turn and run when she heard raspy laughing coming from Chris' Chayal form.

"Gotcha" she laughed

"Jesus Chrstine, you scared the shit out of me" said Ria clutching her chest

"Your eyes are black though, why... how are you yourself?" asked Ria

"I don't know how it works, but I think last time, because it was an unintentional transformation it was like the real me was stuck inside this other form, but now I'm both me AND the Chayal, because I transformed of my own volition. So this is me, black eyes and all" she explained

"I don't know if that makes sense, but I'm glad you're not trying to kill me" said Ria

"Wana see something cool?" asked Chris

"Always" Ria replied

Chris then proceeded to do a bunch of really cool sword stunts, spinning moves and slicing moves, things that terrified Ria, but she also found to be really really impressive. The last thing Chris did was disappear in a cloud of mist, and reappear right next to her, scaring her yet again. Which sent Chris down a laughing spiral yet again. It was quite something to see a weird ghost warrior bent over double laughing, she didn't think that happened very often.

"Okay okay, I get it you're cool as hell. But it's time to get serious, I'm going to transform now" said Ria

With that Chris stiffened, not ready at all for what was about to happen.

Ria stepped into the water and took out her knife. She started making the cuts, watching Chris carefully. She moved further away from Ria, trying to put as much distance between them as possible, just in case she attacked involuntarily. She made the last cut, put the knife back in the holster around her thigh and waited for the transformation to be complete.

She looked up at Chris and for a moment she was really confused. She thought that something was wrong with her eyes, because suddenly instead of one, there were two Chayal staring at her.

Fuck.

She touched her neck... empty... she had forgotten to put her necklace back on after getting changed.

The two Chayal looked at each other and started towards her, the only thought in her mind being that she needed to get the fuck away from them.

"Chris!" she shouted, trying to get through to her girlfriend as she dove in the water

"Chris!!!" as she came up and saw them now close to the edge of the pool.

It was as if it was happening in slow motion, both of them raised their blades, heading straight for her.

"Chris!" her last hope before she ducked under the water again hearing two distinct splashes behind her.
