Chris was royally fucked. So was Ria. They were both completely and utterly fucked. As she paged through Ria's monster book, she realized why everything had been happening to her. It had been happening to her BECAUSE it had been happening to Ria. Or Ria had been doing things. She was suddenly overwhelmingly angry at Ria for starting this whole thing, but she told herself that Ria didn't know. She had no way of knowing.
So of course her luck was this. She starts to turn into some weird warrior nun that's descended from ancient warrior nuns that were created by God to kill His first creations. Turns out one of those monsters is none other than the fucking love of her life, her girlfriend, her life partner and the person she was planning to ask to marry her. Somehow being close to Ria during her transformation made Chris transform too. Twilight rules. Ria's sea monster exists, her warrior has to exist. It was literally twilight rules and for a moment she had to try really hard to not burst into laughter. She was still in bed next to Ria. How was it possible to be in bed next to her and not transform? Was it because she was in her human form? Probably that.
What was she going to do now? What was she going to tell Amma? Maybe Amma already knew about this. Shit. She was freaking out. How was she supposed to pretend like everything was okay now? It's one thing to find out your girlfriend is some kind of monster, but to find out you are mortal enemies is quite another.
She needed to think. She needed to talk to Amma, but she realized that she actually had no way to reach Amma she was always pulled away or pulled into something by her. She didn't know how to initiate contact, and it would probably be a bad idea to summon Amma here. Here where a monster is sleeping peacefully next to her.
She looked over at Ria. She looked so beautiful like this. She probably looked beautiful in her monster form too. Chris hoped that she would be able to see it one day without turning into a freaking warrior nun thing. How was she going to tell Ria what she was and that they were doomed to be enemies. Oh my god this explained the rage she felt, maybe Ria had just transformed back? Why did'nt she feel rage now?
Chris thought back to when she was in her warrior form. What did it feel like? She barely remembered it, it just felt like she was bursting out of her body, as if her physical body couldn't contain her spirit any longer. She wanted to burst. Maybe that's what anger felt like in ghost form. She remember a moment of blinding rage as she yanked Ria's hand away from her neck, and then there was nothing. Just darkness for a second and then Amma's face.
She saw the first rays of sun hitting the ground outside and felt Ria stir next to her. She had spent the entire night awake, thinking about their situation. For now she decided it would be best to not tell Ria, just pretend like everything is normal and that she was just a little freaked out by the whole book and whole monster thing.
She decided to pretend that she had been sleeping all night, turned on her side and put her arm around Ria. She kissed her cheek and buried her nose in Ria's hair. She breathed her in, and relaxed a little. Somewhere inside her she knew things were going to be okay. That they would somehow get through this. She snuggled closer and for a moment things felt normal as she drifted off to sleep. If only for a little while.

Ria woke up with Chris stuck to her side. She could feel Chris' breath hot against her neck. She loved waking up like this. It felt like everything was okay. Normal even. She stroked Chris' hair and hoped that when she woke up things would still feel like this. After her reaction yesterday Ria was a little bit worried about how things would be.
Cutting through her thoughts, she heard Chris' voice asking if she slept well. Chris sounded tired, as if she didn't get a lot of sleep.
"How are you feeling?", asked Ria
"Seepy" she replied, her voice still rough from sleep
Ria laughed, Chris only said seepy when she was in a very specific mood and wanted to be babied.
She ran her hand through Chris' hair, resting it on her cheek "okay my seepy baby, what do you want for breakfast?"
"Just coffee, really strong coffee please" came her reply
Ria kissed her hair and moved to get up. Chris grabbed her arm. Her thoughts flashed to the moment yesterday when she did the same.
This time her grip was softer, soothing, she pulled her gently back down and kissed her. Ria breathed a sigh of relief. Feeling like everything might not have been too overwhelming for Chris yesterday. She didn't think Ria was crazy (which seemed really weird) and she didn't seem scared of her either.
The kiss ended and Ria got up. She went outside and lit the fire again, then went about the motions of making campfire coffee. She poured it out into mugs and started back toward the tent.
Chris had fallen back asleep, of course, and Ria smiled as she woke her up and handed her the mug of coffee. They sat in silence, enjoying the steamy hot drink, just sharing the moment together.
"Do you want to go back early or leave this afternoon?" Ria asked tentatively
"The later the better, avoiding reality for a little longer and being with you sounds like a great way to spend my Sunday", she replied (another weight lifted off of Ria's shoulders.
"Let's go for a swim then, it's really nice outside" Ria suggested
"Sure... but uhmm you're not going to turn into the sea monster thingy when you touch the water are you?" a tinge of worry in her voice
Laughing Ria answered "no, of course not, I have to do the whole gill thing to be able to transform. I wouldn't subject you to that again"
"No! I WANT to see it. Not today. But at some point I want to see you... the full you" her face suddenly serious "I love you Ria, it doesn't matter what you are, I love you just the same"
Ria could have cried right there, and she felt tears sting the corners of her eyes, "I was so scared Chris. That you would hate me or be terrified or disgusted by me, I... I'm so confused all the time and not sharing this with you has been so hard."
"I'm sorry if I made you feel like you couldn't tell me about this, I want you to always be able to tell me everything" Chris replied, feeling just a little bit guilty at her own little secret. "I have questions, but I'll ask them as I think of them or as they come up, but you never have to worry about me not accepting you. I love you. Infinity."
"Infinity" mumbled Ria into Chris' neck, tears hot on her cheeks
How did she get this lucky? Could Chris be any more perfect?
