Chapter 12: Woeful Truths

Wednesday looked at me, I could tell that she agreed, but she showed some apprehension. "What in the world is that?" Enid asked, "My mother gave that to you didn't she" Peyton said, "Yep, she gave it to me and Wen to help me with this" I said as I pointed to my head, "We did a ritual with it, which is how we learned the truth of Francoise's death, and how Vincent was tied to it" Wednesday said as she held my hand, knowing it was a hard topic for me. "You think that'll work?" Lucas asked, "She's descended from Goody Addams dammit, of course it'll work" I said. Enid and Ajax smiled, they clearly thought the same thing I was thinking, "But how are we gonna get your dad to help us, he hates outcasts" Bianca said as she folded her arms, "He used to, but now, not so much" I said, "What?" Yoko asked, "He said he's trying to repent for his role in Tyler's rampage, and he hates Vincent Thorpe just as much as we do, he will help us" Wednesday said. "Wow, how did you work that one over? I tried to steal liquorice when I was 10, and the fuzz brought me back to my parents like that" Peyton said snapping his fingers, he was clearly flabberghasted. 

"I had a vision, and gave him the cause of his wife's death" Wednesday said, everyone soon understood. I played with the charm in my hands, it was tiny and fragile, so I was careful. Thing crawled up to my knee and tapped on it, he signed that if I felt the need to talk, I could. "Thank you Thing, but it's still fresh" I said said I looked at Wednesday. "Some make the potion, give to the sheriff, let him give it to Blake, and she learns the truth?" Ajax asked, "Yes, that's pretty much it" I said. "Good plan, what are the ingredients we need?" Peyton asked. "Here, 3 four leaved clovers, 1 nightshade, 2 drops of dark aura, something of female significance since Blake is a girl, an eye of newt, a drop of lavender, and the thoughts of what one wants to know" Wednesday read out. "I'll get the clovers from the botany classroom!" Enid said as she ran off with Ajax in tow, "There are a few nightshades inside the library, come on Yoko" Bianca said and she and Yoko left, "Drop of darkness definetly means ink" Lucas said, "My mom has an inkwell in our rented place, she's always writing" Peyton said as he and Lucas left. "And we should get the other stuff?" I asked, "There isn't much else to get, I have everything aroma related in my room" Wednesday said, Thing signed that he could find the newt, "I guess I gotta find the female thing" I said and we all split up. 

I followed Wednesday to her dorm room, "Whoa, this is your dorm?" I asked, "Yes, it's not much, but it is dreary, it's a dream" she said, "Okay, what are things that women like?" I asked, "I don't much care for most female pleasantries, but Enid has a lot of things on her side" Wednesday said as she looked in her cupboard filled with aromas. I looked through Enid's drawers, and I found a scrunchie, "This'll work, I got a pot in my cage, I'll get a fire going" I said as I walked back to the catacombs. As I walked back, I wondered what Blake was doing in her holding cell, either trying to break out, or tied in a straitjacket like I was. Soon I grabbed a pot, some firewood from the next room, and some flint from the corner. My hands turned into claws as I struck the flint and lighted the fire. I put a giant cauldron from the armoury over the fire, hanging it from a hook. I filled it with water and threw the scrunchie in, I heard a knock on the door and saw Thing, I opened the door to see that he was carrying a dead newt. "Nice going little guy" I said as he put the Newt down. I removed the eye and threw it into the water, the water soon started to glow, "I guess it's working?" I asked, Thing just shrugged his knuckles as he grabbed a giant mixing stick from the armoury. 

I sat and waited for everyone, Wednesday sent a text to the chat for us to meet in my cage, I looked out the door and saw Wednesday approaching, "I see you got started without me" she said, "I had to get started, we don't have time here" I said starting to freak out, Wednesday put a few drops into the potion and looked at me, "That is true, but we still have the numbers, even a few normie activists" she said, "Oh yeah, and your family, right?" I asked, "Definetely, mother might be self absorbed, but she differentiates right and wrong" Wednesday said. I kissed her forehead, and she smirked back at me. Enid and Ajax walked in, "WE GOT THE CLOVERS!!" Enid yelled as Ajax threw them in, Thing stirred the mixture with the stick. "How is he that strong?" Enid asked, "He's a hand of many stories" I said as I smiled. Bianca and Yoko walked in, they held a nightshade in a pot, "Throw the flower in, not the pot" Wednesday said as Bianca unearthed the flower. Peyton and Lucas came back with an inkwell, "I got it" Peyton said as he poured the ink into the mixture, "I called the sheriff, saying we have a way to make Blake talk" Lucas said, "Good, he needs to know our plan" Wednesday said as Yoko helped thing stir, "Now what?" Bianca asked, "We wait until it turns black" Wednesday said.
