They all got out of the car and walked up to Barry. "Goddamn, is that Barry?" Murphy walked up and grabbed his hand "Or should we say McPickle?" Peña asked. "Come on with us, we got you a ride waiting right over here." Vanessa led the way. Peña quickly walked to the passenger's side as Vanessa got Barry in the car. "What the fuck is this?" she questioned and Peña shrugged "This is my car, asshole." she crossed her arms. "Fuck." she sighed as she opened the door and sat in the back with Barry Seal. "Bullshit." she whispered under her breath. Murphy drove them to the next designated location and Vanessa handcuffed Barry before dragging him out of the car while following Murphy and Peña "Usually I don't like the women in control, that's more my thing." Barry said to Vanessa and as she kneed him in the back, Peña stopped walking and turned around "The fuck did you just say?" he took off his glasses and Vanessa stopped walking "What the fuck did you just say, huh?" Peña got in Barry's face "Peña. Lay off." Murphy spoke. Suddenly, Peña grabbed Barry's shoulder and practically threw him into the building "Javier." she sternly spoke. He looked at her and then went inside.
"You seem awfully relaxed for someone who's facing life in the clink." Peña said as Barlowe walked in to see both Murphy and Peña standing around Barry. "Well, you guys ain't got shit." he said confidently and Peña chuckled. "We got records from Escobar listing shipments from Medellín to Louisiana to the tune of five tons?" Murphy began "Yeah." Peña nodded "Yeah? Well, let's see how well that holds up in court, huh?" Barry said as he looked at the agents. "Y'know, the funny this is that you can't make direct flights from Medellín to Louisiana without making a refueling stop." Barlowe spoke "She's right." Murphy pointed to Barlowe and nodded. "Yeah, according to the records, you made stops in Cuba and Nicaragua." Peña said. "The manifests don't lie." Murphy said as he tapped Barry on the shoulder with a piece of folded-up paper. "An ex-CIA man making stops in communist countries with or without cocaine, that would be considered treason by the US Justice Department, right Peña? Wouldn't it?" Barlowe questioned as she circled around Barry. "Yeah, I think so." Peña nodded. "Well, damn." Barry chuckled "You guys are good." he said. "Communist sympathizer." Murphy spoke "We should wrap you up in a big red bow and drop you right off on Reagan's doorstep." Barlowe smiled and Murphy chuckled.
"Using Cuba and Nicaragua as refueling stops for coke shipments, that's treason and trafficking." Peña told Barry. "What's that, two life sentences for the price of one?" Murphy crouched down to Barry's level and look up at Barlowe and Peña. "That's right." Peña said. "Well...see, I figured this day might come." Barry began as he made eye contact with each agent before talking again. "Why don't you uncuff me, I got something to show you." he proposed. "Yeah? What's that?" Peña asked. "It's what I call a get-out-of-jail-free card." Barry said and all the agents looked at each other. "Y'all gonna wanna see this. Come on, uncuff me." Barry urged.
What Barry had was a photograph of Escobar loading cocaine on a tarmac in Nicaragua. Why does that matter? Because at the time, Nicaragua was governed by the communist Sandinistas, who were letting Escobar use their country as a landing strip for cocaine shipments to the US. Columbian cocaine coming through a communist country and into America? They couldn't have made that shit up. It was too good.
"Holy shit." Peña said as he looked at the picture in Barlowe's hand. "We gotta turn this over to the ambassador." Murphy said "Wait, wait, wait. No." Peña spoke "This leaks wide and Barry Seal is a dead man. We gotta be careful." Peña explained. "Why are you trying to protect some scumbag who's trafficked over 500 tons?" Barlowe looked at Peña "I have a certain code of ethics when it comes to informants." Peña told her "Yeah and fucking any female informants clearly isn't in that code." she said as she looked back down at the picture. "And not when it comes to torturing suspects with hot coffee." Murphy said and Barlowe pointed to him, nodding. "You know, I wouldn't judge Carillo." Peña said "And why's that?" Murphy asked "You had a partner killed. He's had a dozen." Peña said and Barlowe looked at him. "Just take this. I'm going home." Barlowe handed Murphy the picture and walked away.
They all showed up at the office the next day, Murphy and Barlowe sat in Murphy's office as he examined some pictures. Suddenly Peña stormed into the room, grabbed the pictures Murphy was holding, and slammed them on the table before pointing his finger in Murphy's face "Motherfucker! I told you we had to be careful." Peña shouted and Barlowe stood up. "You got Barry Seal killed." Peña continued "If he wanted a long life he should've worked at Kodak instead of being a rat." Barlowe said "You're responsible for his death, asshole." Peña said to Murphy. "Hey, he didn't fucking kill him. Escobar did." Barlowe defended Murphy. "Now we can go after that motherfucker, look on the bright side." she mocked what Peña had previously said to her.
This information had gotten laboratories destroyed and men killed. The agents arrived in Tranquilandia where they had hit hard. They'd gotten Carlos Lehder.
"In my tent is a bag with $50,000...ten times this if you give me one hour." Carlos said to the three agents standing in front of him. Peña said something in Spanish to him before he turned and started walking away. Lehder was immediately extradited to the States, where the federal court sentenced him to life...plus 135 years.
