I loved Larry and Ash but it's only so long that you can watch two people joke around before you start to get bored. As Ash became more and more drunk and Larry trying to get her chill out, I started wanting to leave. I was practically alone at this party and it's was just getting to be more and more tiring. I pulled out my phone to start to find myself an Uber when I heard Ash yell, "Oh my god! Heyyy!"

Out of curiosity I looked over. This was probably the tenth person to come up to Ash during a party to say hi. What could I say, she was pretty popular in high school. But it was different this time. Larry was smiling and talking to them while Ash was hugging them. When Ash finally took a step back, I could see who it was clearer.

He was a tall slender man, slightly taller than me but still smaller than Ash. He had long blue hair, falling a little past his shoulders that matched with his sky blue eyes. He had on a long black shirt followed by jeans ripped at the knees and blue tennis shoes. The most interesting part was his face or more so the fact that I couldn't see it. He wore a mask, with a piece of it a faded pink.

Ash looked back at me and suddenly seemed ecstatic. She grabbed my arm and pulled me closer, gesturing to me. "Oh! This is Y/n! Y/n this is Sal!"

I gave him an awkward wave, not sure what to do or say. Talking to complete strangers wasn't my strong suit. I was slightly relieved when he returned the small wave. I returned to my cup taking a sip, praying that it would help me loosen up.

"I think I've told you about Y/n, right? She was in a lot of my classes during high school." Ash explained, Sal politely nodding to show he was following along.

"Yeah, I think I remember that. The one from art class?"

"Yeah!" Ash beamed. She finished off her drink, placing the empty cup on the counter next to her. "Saw her sitting in a café today, just knew I had to catch up with her!"

Sal nodded, laughing a little bit. He looked back at me for a second. I could assume he was smiling, by the way squinted. "Ash talked about you a lot. Nothing bad, of course, but she mentioned you quite often."

I wasn't sure how to feel. She talked about me a lot? We hardly knew each other. God were we always friends and I was just to dense to recognize that. I mean looking back we did talk a LOT but I mean I thought she was doing it out of pity. I returned an interested smile, "oh?"

Ash shook her head and waved her hand dismissively. "You say it like I was obsessive or something." She complained, her words beginning to slur together. She shrugged. "I'm getting another drink, anyone want one?"

"Yeah, another sounds good." Larry nodded handing her his cup. Meanwhile, Sal and I nodded in agreement.

"Four drinks. Ok, and who's gonna help me carry those?" She asked, eyeing each of us. Larry seemed to have no intention on helping and since Sal just got here it seemed unfair to make him move around again.

I raised my hand slightly. "I will."

"Perfect! Come on, Y/n!" Ash cheered, holding my hand as we made our way through a couple groups of people. I needed to walk anyways. I was getting tired of standing in that one spot.

"I promise you I didn't talk about you as much a Sal says. He says it like it was all I talked about." She let out a small laugh, encouraging me to do the same.

"Yeah, no I get it." I was honestly relieved. I watched Ash fill up our cups again, mixing vodka and whatever punch they had set out. I questioned if that would even taste good but then again, I wasn't a very good judge seeing as I didn't really like alcohol all that much.

I followed close behind Ash as she elbowed through crowds until we were back in our corner of the kitchen. Ash handed a drink to Sal as I handed one to Larry. Larry took a sip of his drink, making a strange face. Sal on the other hand faced away from us as he went to take a sip. I watched him move his mask up slightly, his hair getting slightly messed up from it. He took a sip, pulling his mask back down as he looked back at us. I couldn't really tell what he thought of it, his eyes squinting slightly as he looked at Ash.

"What is this?" He questioned, examining the drink, swirling it around a little bit.

Ash shrugged, taking a sip. "Vodka and some weird punch they set out."

I took a sip of my own, immediately trying to hide how gross I thought it tasted. I shook my head slightly, listening in on the conversation between the three.

Sal didn't talk too much, at least not as much as the other two. Every once in a while he would correct them, let out a small laugh, or give his opinion on something but besides that he was silent. As for Ash and Larry, they were letting out loud fits of laughter and yelling to each other about random stuff I swore I had never even heard about.

Eventually both Larry and Ash had finished their drinks looking at the crowd that was singing and dancing. Ash pulled Larry over into the crowd, both being seen near the outside dancing together. Which left me and Sal alone. Great.

There was a small bit of silence between us before I looked up at him. The mask was strange. I couldn't help but look at it. The mask was cold and expressionless. The only way to tell how Sal felt was by staring at his eyes. His blue eyes seemed against the little bit of his skin that was darkened by the mask.

Suddenly I realized I was probably staring a bit too long. I looked away, taking a sip on my horrible drink to distract myself. I couldn't help but express my disgust as I recoiled slightly. Sal let out a small laugh.

"That bad, huh?" He asked.

I felt my face go red hot from embarrassment. I didn't realize he had noticed. I had never so badly wished to be invisible before in my life. I cleared my throat. "Well, I don't know. Not that bad but um...I don't really like alcohol." I explained.

"You don't have to drink it you know." Yeah I know that. Pretty smart idea genius. Shut up! He was being nice. I begged my brain to stop fighting with itself.

"Yeah, I know." I answered quietly, swishing the liquid around in my red solo cup. There was another awkward silence between us. Neither of us really knew what to say. That's when Sal broke the silence once more.

"It's a prosthetic by the way."

"Huh?"

"My mask." He told me, gesturing to it. "It's a prosthetic. I saw you looking at it earlier and I just didn't want you to think I was some creep or something." He let out a small chuckle, looking away to adjust his mask and take a sip of his drink. I returned his laughter and looked away. If he felt the need to look away from me while taking a drink, I might as well make things a little easier.

After a little bit I looked back to see him adjusting his mask to put it back down. He shook his head as he furrowed his brows.

"God you're right. That is not good. The more I drink it the worse it gets." He told me setting his cup down. I let out a quiet giggle, finally feeling a little better at this party.
