◁◁ 〡︎〡︎ ▷▷"A fair?" I asked Ash as I finished my coffee. We had been hanging out at a café, sipping coffee and being a little too loud for a small and rundown place like this. She had a huge smile on her face.
"Yes! A fair! Most of Nockfell goes. There's a farris wheel, really weird snacks, games that I'm certain are rigged. It's great!" For someone who was trying to convince me to go to this thing, she was not very good at selling the idea to me.
"I couldn't handle the party, you think I can handle a fair?"
"Oh come on, fairs are completely different from house parties. It's not going to be cramped and there are gonna be plenty of fun things to do." she thought for a second. "And you're best friend most likely isn't going to be drunk and therefore can make sure you're having fun!"
I laughed slightly as I moved the empty coffee cup away from me. "Ok, fine. I'll think about it."
"Great!" Ash began to collect her things. "We should get going before Larry gets mad that I'm late again."
---
Me and Ash met up with Larry and Sal at Larry's place. The two were being loud as all hell when we let ourselves in. As we walked through the front door we could hear the loud fits of laughter that the two were letting out. From incoherent yelling to wheezing.
Typically I don't like loud noises. But it was different when it was Sal. Hearing him so happy lit up my heart. As we entered Larry's room I could see Sal sitting on Larry's bed covering his masked face as he let out small giggles. Meanwhile Larry was on the floor leaning against a wall trying to catch his breath while continuing to wheeze.
I looked at Ash as we held back laughter, seeing the scene in front of us. I sat down next to Sal while Ash sat on the floor by the bed.
The two boys began to catch their breath as we got situated in our chosen spots. I looked over at Sal, a big, unavoidable smile slapped across my face.
"What's so funny?" I asked watching Sal collect himself.
"Larry um...made a stupid joke and started to..." he started holding back laughter again. "Let out the most disgusting laugh I have ever heard." At this point Larry started laughing again and Ash rolled her eyes.
"THAT'S what you guys were laughing so much about?" Ash questioned.
"Will you listen to Larry laugh?" Sal asked in between laughs. "He sounds so stupid!"
Larry was dying at this point. He was wheezing like crazy. It was a little concerning.
After a bit of laughter and some judgement from me and Ash, we went into our normal song and dance of small talk and jokes. After a bit we got back to Ash's current favorite topic. The fair.
"I'm telling you this is an awesome idea!" Ash exclaimed.
"To go to a place where sticky children and cheesy couples are?" Larry questioned.
"When you put it that way it sounds bad but I promise it will be fun!"
Larry let out a small sigh. It only takes a little bit of convincing from Ash before he's unable to say no to something. I blame it on the years of friendship. Hard to say no your best friend.
