I wake up at the sound of a door sliding open. My eyes open up, automatically scanning the room around me. Where am I? It's a plain room, with a plain bed and a light brown couch right in front of a large window, from which sunlight floods in the room. This place isn't familiar to me at all. How could I have ended up here? I dig in my memory, trying to find out, and find... nothing? Wait, nothing? My mind is completely empty, as if someone had erased all of my memories, apart from basic knowledge about the world, with a hoover. I don't even know my name.
I hear footsteps nearing the bed and sit up, facing two unknown men wearing black work suits. The first one has light brown hair set back with gel, with the exception of an untamed strand that falls on his forehead. He looks somehow familiar but I don't remember having seen him before. Well, it makes sense. I don't remember anything at all. The second one is completely unknown to me. He has black hair that somehow brings out his ears.
"Have you regained consciousness?" the first, who seems to be the other one's superior, asks.
I blink a few times, wondering where I heard that langage before. This isn't english. It sounds familiar, but I don't recognize it though I understand what he says. I nod, wondering if I can answer in the same language. Is it even possible for me to speak with them, even though I understand what they say? I open my mouth to try and speak, but decide otherwise and close it, asking a question with my eyes. Who knows how they might react if I act or speak strangely?
"I apologize if we startled you." The man with light brown hair hands me a business card.
Surprisingly, I have no problem reading the name and other crucial information on the card. What are those signs? Is this... Korean?
"Woo Jin-Chul." I read, letting the name pass the barrier of my lips, creating a familiar sound. I know that name. But from where? My mind doesn't give me any answer, only more questions. "Hunter's association surveillance team. Hunters?"
I look at them with even more questions. The word, even the name of that association, sounds familiar, but I can't put my finger on what exactly it is. The profession of hunter doesn't exist, right?
"Yes, we came here to talk about the incident of the double dungeon," the man continues.
Hunters, dungeons... It reminds me of games, or webnovels. One word comes to my mind: manhwa. Did I read one about dungeons before? Probably, but I can't remember it. I dig further into my memory, but instead of answers, I earn a pounding headache.
"Ah!" I gasp.
I hurriedly support my head with a hand on the forehead. The coldness of my fingers spreads through the skin, calming the ache a little bit.
"Hunter Soo Hee-Jin!" The man calls. "Are you all right?"
Soo Hee-Jin? That must be my name. Am I a hunter, too? If he works in an association that monitors hunters, I need to be careful. Did I do something wrong for him to come and see me? No, right. He came for the double dungeon. What is that?
An image comes to my mind in a flash, disappearing as fast as it came. A giant blue stone face, with pitch black eyes and red glowing pupils, smiling in the dim eerie light. That image alone is enough to send chills wandering in my back, up and down, and the headache suddenly stops.
"S-sorry." I stutter.
"Do you feel any pain? Should I call a nurse? We can have this conversation later." Woo Jin-Chul offers.
Nurses? I must be in a hospital. If I think about it, it makes sense. I shake my head. It doesn't hurt anymore. What was that just now? I will think about it later. These men have some answers and these are now my priority.
