The sound of our steps breaks the menacing silence that surrounds us as we walk down the stairs that seem to be never ending, but somehow also not long enough. We finally reach the underground floor, but there isn't any monster. Expecting a surprise attack, we walk further into the station carefully. Thanks to my enhanced sensory stats, I can feel the presence of living beings in the dungeon. They are all around us. But I can't see them, so we continue walking.
Until something pulls on my leg. I look down to discover that it is held down by a small monster looking like a ball with tentacles made out of... jelly?
[Sticky tentaculous jelly]
"A slime?" I wonder, trying to lift my leg, but it stays stuck between the monster's tentacles.
I have to admit that it kind of looks cute. If it wasn't a monster, it would have been a great pet. It's a shame that it doesn't have fluffy fur. But above all: is it trying to immobilize me? Then that means-
"Watch out!" I hear Jin-Woo yell as three projectiles are thrown my way and I suddenly feel his body collide with mine, sending the both of us to the ground.
The sudden movements permit my leg to slip away from the tentacle's grip. We stand up swiftly, summoning our weapons out of our inventories and placing ourselves in a fighting stance. I can see them now. Hundreds of jellies sticking on the walls and the ceiling, all of different transparent colors with glowing red eyes. Some appear and disappear, according to their colors to their surroundings. Camouflage? This must be why we didn't see them coming.
Some of them jump off their spot, sending their tentacles straight at us. We dodge some and I try to cut them with my kitchen knife, but the part of the tentacle I cut off sticks back to the original one right after that. I can't land any damage.
A jelly rushes over to me without me noticing and lands roughly on my back, causing me to almost fall. Jin-Woo is immediately next to me, taking the monster off my back with bare hands. Bad idea. The jelly, now on his hand, doesn't let him go. He shakes his hand, but it stays where it is.
"It won't go off!" he exclaims.
"Try to cut it off."
Not having enough time to watch him struggle against this one, I turn to the other ones that are coming in mass. If I am correct, these jellies work like Jin-Woo's shadows. They can regenerate easily, but they have a weakness: the moment when they reassemble their bodies. So I cut the most tentacles I can, swinging my knives around me without really caring where they land, as long as they hit jelly-like bodies. But somehow, it doesn't seem to help at all. They keep on regrowing, fast, too fast, and the longer this fight will last, the more tired I will grow. Time is playing against me.
A little further, Jin-Woo cuts the jelly on his hand in half with his dagger.
{[Effect: Bleed has been activated.]}
{[Effect: Paralyze has been activated.]}
The jelly suddenly falls on the ground as if the effects had dried it up, a bit of fluid substance dripping from it. The dagger's poison can do that? Is it the bleed or paralyze effect? Or both?
But I am not the only one who noticed it. The other monsters all turn their attention to the boy who just killed one of theirs. A mass of tentacles rush towards him and stick him to the ground, immobilizing him, letting the jellies throw themselves on him. Every impact makes him gasp in pain but he can't defend himself, unable to move with his members in their grip. I try to stop the monsters by cutting their tentacles, but it is no use. They regenerate in an instant, determined to attack the hunter, almost not paying attention to me at all.
