"I'm sorry." Yuta says as he strokes Mark's hair. He is currently laying on his chest.
"Stop apologizing now. I love you, we are fine." Yuta sighs.
"I wish I could make love to you right now, but you know, too much stress." Mark traces patterns on his bare chest.
"When you get your new heart you can make love to me all you want." Yuta smiles.
"You know that's one of the many things I love about you. You are so optimistic, enthusiastic and even child like at times, in the best way possible. I am upset now that we lost two weeks." Mark shakes his head.
"We will make it up." Yuta shakes his head.
"Mark, listen..."
"No Yuta, you listen. I know the possibilities of what could happen and it terrifies me, but until that actually happens I will hold out hope and be as optimistic as I want to. Just let me have that ok?" He wipes his eyes but they still drip onto his chest.
"Mark you have to know that I love you with literally everything inside me. I know a lot of people say, I love you with all my heart but it goes beyond that for me. I feel you in every part of me. Never forget that and thank you for coming back, I'm so scared. I didn't know how badly I needed you until I saw your face."

Mark quickly crawls up and holds him tightly as he violently cries. He's not ready to leave this world. He is definitely not ready to leave Mark. He has so many plans. It takes a few minutes for him to finally calm in his arms.
"I have an appointment tomorrow, would you like to come and meet Dr Kim and learn more about this?"
"Of course I want to." Mark kisses him softly and resumes holding him like before.

When the next day comes Mark tries to hide the fear resonating through him. He almost doesn't want to know the extent of it because ignorance is bliss but he needs to know, needs to be strong.

"He has what's simply known as heart failure. It's pretty much what it sounds like. His heart is having trouble pumping everywhere it needs to. Because he's had a series of mini strokes that have damaged the heart and made it weak." Mark squeezes his hand and bites his lip.
"He will have to be watched as this progresses for signs of major stroke or cardiac arrest. Here are some pamphlets that will tell you everything to watch for and you can research some on the internet but be careful with that." He pauses, taking in Mark's pale face.
"Look, I know this is a hard time but we are doing everything we can to save his life. He has been moved up on the list as top priority so as soon as one comes in that is compatible we will do the surgery." Mark's eyes are wide and his heart is beating a mile a minute.
"Th-thank you. As much as it is hard to hear, I know I need to, so thank you. I'll keep a close eye on him." He takes a deep breath and asks the question he most dreads the answer to.
"Is there a timeline? Like how long does he have?" Dr Kim sighs.
"I don't really like to put time limits. We know since we found this we have been able to slow the progression with medication but there was already significant damage at that point. Best estimated guess is all I can give which could be two hours to two months. It isn't long."

Mark is completely numb by the time they leave. He learned all about his medications and his limitations, everything he needs to help him through this time.
"Baby are you ok?" Yuta asks grabbing his thigh.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I mean as ok as I can be." He says as he pulls up to their apartment building. He puts the car in park and squeezes the steering wheel as he almost hyperventilates with his sobs.
"I can't lose you. You have to get better. You have to." Yuta reaches over and hugs him as hard as he possibly can.
"I love you so much Yu, you are my whole life." Yuta holds him in the car as long as he possibly can, until both are really sore.

"Let's go inside and I'll cook for you." Yuta says quietly.
"But, no I better." Yuta shakes his head.
"Just in case, let me do this one more time." Mark caves but only upon Yuta agreeing to let him help.

Mark of course did all the heavy lifting and he babied him whenever possible. Yuta hurts even more knowing he might leave him alone. He deserves the most happiness in the world.
"Do you think that one day, no never mind." Mark gives him a look, knowing it was going to be a cryptic question and helps to pour the grape juice into the wine glasses. Yuta isn't allowed alcohol because of all of his medications, but they can still have a romantic meal together.

Yuta feeds Mark and makes him giggle with the cute things he does.
"How did I ever get so lucky?" Yuta asks as he stares in Mark's eyes. Mark sighs and takes his outstretched hand.
"I'm the lucky one. You are the best thing that ever happened to me." They both chuckle.
"Maybe we should stop being cheesy for a while?" Yuta asks. Mark nods with a genuine smile and Yuta's heart melts.

Yuta makes Mark promise to be as normal as possible with him and not tip toe around things which in turn Yuta had to promise to try and have a positive, optimistic outlook. If the coming days prove to be a test of their relationship, they will surely pass the test.
