(53) four // one direction
their music continued to evolve, and with the release of four, they have proved to us that their musicality had matured. there is still that specific 1d sound and theme; although their songs' genre is not bubblegum pop anymore, their target audience were still young adults.
"steal my girl" deserved to be the lead single. it's very catchy. though honestly, every track could be the lead. that's how good this album is (just like every other 1d album).
zayn's voice is soaring, as usual. that "ready to run" high note was glorious. i don't get tired of listening to it! his voice is one of the biggest assets of the band.
"18" is romantic, it's exactly how i imagine a song written by ed sheeran would sound like. it has become a classic within the fandom. "girl almighty" is slightly written in a more playful tone, and it's something that gives the album a lighter mood. stockholm syndrome's lyrics are kind of ~sinister, i hope they explored this type of music more.
"four" is full of gems that i hope the general public took their time to dig into. (they didn't, sadly.) but they like night changes and steal my girl, so at least there's that.
