Letter Investigation & The Candidates

Latil had just finished discussing issues with Count Breta as you were finishing up jotting down what they were saying. Just as Latil stood up to leave her seat she saw that Count Breta was fidgeting around anxiously. "What is it?"

"Uh... Your majesty, may I request a private audience?"

You wondered what it was for him to request a private audience. Latil sat back down "There. Now what do you wish to speak to me about, Count Breta?"

Count Breta whished out a sealed letter. "Emperor Hyacinth asked me to give you this letter in secret, your majesty." Man he really does love giving her letters in secret huh? Latil read the letter and her face became troubled.

"Good work, Count Breta. You will be well rewarded for this. You must be tired after your journey. You may go rest." He bowed and took his leave.

"What did the letter say Latil?" You asked, tilting your head slightly.

Latil beckoned Sir Sonnaught to listen to what she had to say. "It seems a rat has been stealing my letters and gifts from Hyacinth."

"Ehhh... Who would do that even?"

"Do you think this rat is in Tarium, your majesty?" Sir Sonnaught asked.

"It could be in Karisen, Tarium, or even another empire. Hyacinth probably asked Count Breta to hand me the letter in secret because he doesn't know either."

"Oh my..." Your brother put his hand on his chin.

"This may be completely unrelated to the assassination of my father, but it won't hurt to be careful. Tampering with an emperor's mail is a serious crime to begin with. We will have to move quietly."

"Do you want us to investigate Latil?" You asked her.

"Yes please look into this for me Y/n, Sir Sonnaught."

"You can count on my brother and me Latil" You playfully saluted her. "You should rest now or not, your health will be at risk. Just leave it to us."

You were taking a stroll around the garden. Your brother had suggested you to pick up an outdoor hobby as recommended by the doctors to help you recover mentally. So you decided to give gardening a go. You were walking near the donut shaped structure that was going to house the consorts not long later. 

Latil gave you permission to do gardening there. Currently you have already planted some flowers and some fruits. You wondered if they were going to grow well. It seemed that some of the seeds had already sprouted. You walked around the garden watering your little plants. The place was slightly hidden from the consorts place due to the trees blocking it but it was still visible if you looked closely. 

After you finished watering you sat down near the trunk of a tree and looked at the moon. Its light was amazingly beautiful. Coming here at night sometimes gives you a sense of peace. Sometimes you would get nightmares of what Thula and his mother had done to you. You would always wake up breaking a cold sweat. To calm down you would always come here as it was peaceful. Sometimes you would even see some little critters roaming about.

You then looked at the structure behind you. You wondered what kind of people were going to the house soon. Would they be noisy? Would they pick up fights with each other? Or would they live in peace? Nahhh that last one seemed kind of impossible considering all of them would be competing for Latil's attention. You still smiled wondering what the future might hold. Tomorrow you would be following your brother along to go home to investigate the whole letter situation. You hadn't been back home yet ever since you recovered. So you were sort of excited to see your parents again. You had missed them.
