Dominick stood on the sidewalk as he watched Gina get into the ambulance with his wife. She had tried to get him to go, but Dominick knew she would be of more help to Olivia.
"We should follow the ambulance," Serafina spoke, her voice shaking as she addressed the group. Dominick could barely understand his mother's voice, since all he could focus on was the ambulance as it drove away.
"Sonny," Senior spoke, as he moved to stand in front of his son. Senior reached out and placed his hands on Dominick's shoulders before squeezing gently.
"Pops," Dominick mumbled.
"We are going to head up to the hospital. Do you remember where you parked?"
"Uh, I-i think," Dominick replied.
"Good. I'm going to walk you down there, get Milo in, and then drive you to the hospital. Okay?"
"Olivia-"
"Gina is with her kid. Everything will be okay."
Dominick nodded weakly and looked around the group. He found Teresa was holding a whimpering Milo in her arms. He took a few strides towards her, before taking his son into his arms.
"It's okay, buddy. Daddy has you, and we will see Mama soon. I promise."

The ride to the hospital was long and full of tension. Dominick sat in the back and caressed his son's tear-stained cheeks as his father drove. Once they arrived at the hospital, they had already taken Olivia back to a trauma room and Gina was in there with her.
"What do we do?" Dominick asked. His voice was shaking, and he felt so incredibly overwhelmed. When Olivia had been attacked, he was freaking out and worried that the love of his life would never wake up. But this time it was different.
Not only was he worried that Olivia would leave him, but that she's also leave little Milo. That baby absolutely adored his mother, and losing her would completely destroy him.
"I'll see if there is any paperwork you need to fill out. Why don't you sit down with Milo?" Senior spoke, as he took charge of the situation.
"Pops-"
"It's okay, son. I've got it. Take the baby and sit down."
Dominick wandered over to a bank of chairs. He put his son's carrier on one chair, before reaching in and smoothing his brown hair. Milo had cried himself to sleep, but Dominick didn't know how long his baby would end up sleeping before waking up and wanting to be fed.
"Alright, I'll ask questions and you answer them. Okay?" Senior spoke, as he settled down beside his son. Dominick nodded slowly.
Those that had gathered for Milo's christening showed up in small groups. The moment that Serafina got there, she took Milo out of his carrier and snuggled him close as she prayed silently for her daughter-in-law.
Doors kept opening, but no one came to tell them news on Olivia. Eventually Milo got hungry, so Kathy took him, her kids, and Mia home so that they could play and Milo could eat. Everyone waiting got stir crazy and would pace or went outside for fresh air. Many tears were shed, and Dominick felt like barging into the trauma room to get an update on his wife. Yet he restrained.

"Sonny," Gina spoke, as she walked from some unknown location. She had changed out of her dress and was now dressed in scrubs. Dominick stood on shaky legs and grabbed his sister's hands once she got close.
"Is Olivia okay?" He asked weakly. All this waiting had completely drained him, and all he wanted was to sleep for hours. But only if his wife could lie beside him.
"Has she hit her head recently?" Gina questioned.
"I think a few days she smacked it on the kitchen table. Milo had dropped his lovey, so she leaned down to grab it and hit her head."
"She gave herself a pretty severe concussion that led to some brain damage. Something shifted, and it caused her to seize. Sonny, she's not doing good," Gina breathed.
Dominick shook his head as tears slipped down his cheeks.
"N-no. Gina-"
"They are trying their hardest to fix it so that she can come home to you and Milo," Gina spoke, before pulling her little brother into her arms. Dominick sobbed as he clung to his sister.
Eventually they parted, and Gina gave an update to the rest of the family. Dominick was hugged tightly by his mother, then his father, before being led upstairs to the ICU.
Olivia was almost gray as she laid against the bright white sheets. Her head was bandaged and tubes and wires came from all over her body. Dominick stumbled towards the bed and let his hand hover over Olivia's hand.
"Mr. Carisi," A man's voice sounded from behind him. Dominick turned slowly to face the doctor.
"It's not good, is it?" Dominick whispered.
"No, sir. It isn't. Your wife's brain is damaged and swelled during the few scans we performed. I rushed her to the OR and removed a portion of her skull to give her brain space to swell. We are monitoring her closely, and should hopefully have more information as the hours progress."
"Do you think her previous brain injury is making things worse?" Dominick asked weakly.
"I wouldn't be surprised, sir. The brain is very complicated, and sometimes we have a hard time understanding why it does what it does."
Dominick nodded tearfully before turning to face his wife. He reached out and gently caressed her cheek, as he wondered if this was the end. He felt like the very limited time he had with his soulmate was ticking away. They got to have one beautiful baby together, but there may not be more babies. There would be no growing old together or watching as Milo graduated, got married, and made them grandparents.
"I want you to do everything possible to get her better. Don't cut corners, because I need her to come home with me. If not soon, but eventually. My baby needs her too," Dominick whispered.
Hey guys! If you wouldn't mind, could you give me some ideas of how you would want this book to proceed? It will be ending soon, but I don't know if I should do another time jump or something else. Thanks!
