"Janine, please that music has to go." Nina said popping her head into the classroom. "You're distracting every child on the second floor." "Sorry, the kids didn't have story time today and they were getting a little restless." Janine turned the music off. "Oh, did someone pee on your rug?" Nina asked. "Yea, maybe Ava might be able to get me a new one." "Yea, good luck with that," Nina said stepping back out into the hallway. "Come on everyone turn around, let's all go back inside." She said smiling at the kids.
Confession: "Um so how does this work? Do I just tell you my name? Oh ok, I'm Nina Esposito um I teach 1st graders, I do art club every other Tuesday, and I've been working here for about 3 years. She nodded.
"Hey, Mellisa can you please tell Ta-Nehisi Quotes here that white boy is a term of endearment from the corner store people?"Janine said. "For Zach Ertz yeah. For him, it's an insult. "I wouldn't say it's an insult, it's really just them trying to be polite. Nina chimed in. "Whew! Guys, i need a new rug. Mine is officially done. Janine complained. "Me too, I shook mine out, and all the asthma kids had to go to the nurse. Jacob added. "One of my art club kids spilled an entire bucket of paint on mines." Nina remarked. "Yea mines busted, and you can't class up a rug like you can a couch with a nice coat of plastic.
"Hey-yo! What it do, baby-boos?" Ava shouted." What ya'll think about this little film crew I bought in here?" "They're intrusive." Nina deadpanned into one of the cameras. "But it's exciting, we're about to be on tv" Ava exclaimed.
Confession: "What do I think about Ava? I think she's a great principal. Nina nodded "Am i just saying that because she's my boss? Of course not." She smiled.
"Melissa, I'm headed to Kenny's, You want the usual?" Nina questioned. "Yea, get me a couple pickles on the side. "Kk, what about you Barb? "Oh no, I brought my own food today. Thanks for asking. Barbara smiled. "No problem." Nina headed out.
Nina knocked on Melissa's door. She heard a faint "Come in" before entering. "Looks like Santa came early," She smiled and sat down with her sandwich bags. "Looks like he did, in the form of a cute little 27-year-old. Melissa laughed. Nina blushed at the older teachers words.
Before they knew it the bell had rung and lunchtime was over. Nina was on her way back to class before one of her students ran up to her and told her about Ms. Schwartz kicking a student. She was the first teacher there.
"Everyone calm down!" Nina shouted. "What the heck happened," Janine said running up to the crowd. "He hit me first" Ms.Schwartz yelled frantically at the boy." "Liar!" The boy yelled back. "Oh, I'm the liar? She took a step forward, and So did Nina. "Back off!" She shouted. Ms. Schwarts looked at her before storming off down the hallway.
Confession: Hitting a kid is just something you don't do. Like ever. It's totally immoral. Nina shook her head.
"Ok so Ms. Schwartz was out of line and clearly didn't know how to control her class."
"You hired her." Melissa said. "And fired her. They give me way too much power around here. Ava smirked. "Maybe we should alert the school district. I mean a child was harmed-" Nina complained. "Hey! Harmed? I handled this, plus we don't need the district to know a child was hurt on my wa- on the school's watch. Ava smiled at the camera.Confession: I definitely change my mind. Ava's terrible at her job. But don't tell her i said that. She added.
"I'll just get you both 2." Nina wrote it down. "Hi, um I'm looking for Ms. Coleman."
"Oh yea she's-" "Hello." She smirked. "I'm Gregory Eddie. I'm here to sub for the teacher who- punted a student?" "Oh damn, I thought one of my colleagues got me a stripper" Ava laughed and went back into her office. "Anyway, welcome to Abbot Gregory." Nina stuck out her hand. "Nice to meet you, young man." Barbra smiled and took his hand. "Yeah, nice to meet you too Ryan." "Uh, it's Gregory." "Eh let's see how long you'll be here, then I'll remember your name. Okay, Tim?" Melissa asked before walking off. "Ok." Greggory said, confused. "I'm sorry about her, that was Melissa. She's extremely straight forward." Nina smiled and walked off.
