"Guys, come on, we're gonna be late." I announced.

"Well, I'm basically ready, I just have to put my clothes on." Mateo said proudly.

"You should've been had your clothes on." I popped him on the back of his head.

"Ow." He muttered, rubbing his head.

"Nina, I'm ready. Can you do my hair?" Sofia asked me.

"Yea, come sit." She walked over to me and plopped down in front of me. "That's a pretty shirt, where'd you get it?" I asked curiously.

"Alana bought it for me." She said casually.

Alana? "Who's that."

"Mateos girlfriend." She twiddled her fingers in front of her as I braided her hair down.

"Girlfriend?" I looked at her. "He has a girlfriend?"

"Mhm." She nodded. "They've been together for like a year." Damn. Why didn't he tell me?

"Wow." I continued braiding her hair.

"Ok, now I'm all done." Mateo stepped out of the bathroom. His buttons were messed up on his shirt.

"Fix your top." I rolled my eyes at him. He glanced down before smiling sheepishly and stepping back into the bathroom.

"Ok. All done." She stood up and ran to the door, putting her shoes on. "And what do you say?"

"Oh, thank you." She ran back over to me and threw her arms around my waist.

"No problem." Our breakfast reservation was set for 11:00, and it was almost 10:30. "Mateo, you have 7 minutes before I leave your ass here." I shouted.

"Oooooh. That's a bad word Nina."

"Yeah, guess what? I can say that because I'm an adult."

"Mhm. And I'm still a swear jar, so please give me a dollar.

"Ugh crap, I forgot about that." I rolled my eyes

Back when we were all living together, Mateo and I would cuss all the time, that was until Sofia got old enough to start repeating those words in front of her fellow classmates, she even got me in trouble with Barb a couple of times. To prevent that, we made a deal that anytime one of us swore, we had to cough up a dollar. I totally forgot about that, until now.

"Here." I handed it to her. I was about to go knock on the door, when Mateo swung it open, for like the 3rd time today.

"Ok, now I'm ready."

"Alright, let's go."

I grabbed my purse and slung it on my shoulder. I made sure to grab my keys, before I shut and locked the door.

We got there earlier than I thought we would, still a couple of minutes overtime, but at least we made it.

Sofia sat next to me and Mateo sat across from us.

"Soo, our little sister here says you're seeing someone," Mateo said. He looked at his menu like he was actually interested, but I know his dumb ass can't read.

"What- Sofia!"

"I'm sorry, he kept asking me about it. And you said you wouldn't tell." She said that last part more to him.

"You know what, you're not safe either. She told me about your little girlfriend too."

"Sofia!"

"Mhm, yep, she threw you under the bus too." He looked at her, completely bewildered, as if he couldn't find any reason as to why she would do something like that.
