Everyone sat quietly in the breakroom, like always. Melissa came in doing a cute little dance.
"Well, it looks like a classic Schemmenti good-mood day. Barbara laughed."You know it! I got my favorite parking spot, my macchiato is on point, and my neighbor finally found her cat, so I don't have to hear her crying through the walls." She celebrated.
"And what has got you so happy over there, miss thing?" Barbara asked."Welllll, do you remember my brother Mateo?"
"Oh yes, the one in Cali?"
"Yeah, anyways he's coming into town with my little sister on Saturdayyyy!" I squealed. "I haven't seen them since like 2019?" I don't know, I'm so excited."
"That's right. Isn't your sister going to be moving out here with you for the next school year?" Melissa questioned.
"Yea, I'm surprised you remembered, I told you that so long ago." I beamed at her.
"I remember everything you tell me, Nina."I noticed Barbara give us a funny look before returning to her lesson plan.
Janine and Jacob got excited about their teacher reviews and told Gregory all about it. "So every year, we read our online reviews out loud to see what the parents think of us.
"So there's a yelp for teachers?" Gregory clarified."
"Yea, I can help you set one up."
"No thanks, that doesn't sound to good." He declined.
Confession: "I found out about those little review thingies in my first year. But honestly, I just gave up on my second. I realized I didn't really like random people giving me feed back on how to do my job." I sighed. "I hope Janine and jacob get out of that phase one day." i shrugged.
Janine had gotten excited about having a new review, but her smile quickly faded when she saw it was a C-.She complained about it bringing down her normal average, and making her look like a bad teacher.
"Nice, but lacks experience compared to the other second grade teacher." Jacob read aloud."Hey, that's me. The other second grade teacher at Abbott." Melissa smiled enthusiastically. I gave her an annoyed look.
"Janine, it's not that bad. Who cares what they think anyway? They don't know you." I told her.
"Yea, that's not even the worst, one of my reviews was so bad, the superintendent had to come check in on me." Jacob shook his head.
"Well, that's you. I never get bad reviews." Janine sighed.
"You just did." Melissa joked. Her and Barbara laughed. She tried to give me a high-five, but I swated her hand away. Gregory comforted Janine and told her that the reviews don't define what kind of teacher she is. She agreed with him for a split second before she went on about how everyone can read the negative comment.
"Hey, kid, listen. There's nothing wrong with having some room for improvement." Melissa told her. I agreed. "Just take it from me, the other, better, more experienced teacher at Abbott." I rolled my eyes at her.

Jacob and I walked side by side, playfully arguing about the best Disney movie, before he spotted Gregory. "Heyy, Gregory. Where you headed?" Jacob asked him."Hi. I'm just looking for the mailboxes." Gregory pressed his lips into a tight line.
"Oh, If you go down the-" I began, but Jacob cut me off.
