Elian

"Elian! Elian! Guess what!?"

I immediately groaned outloud. I can't stand being pulled out of my sleep.

But alas, an excited Triton just couldn't being ignored. And I knew better than to even try.

Whatever you're doing, forget it. It didn't even matter anymore. Apparently that goes for sleep too.

Maybe I should light a fire under his ass and he'll leave me alone this time.

I could only sigh at the thought.

"What is it Triton?" I say finally sitting up, peeling eyelids back to glare at him.

My brother always did have poor timing.

As a Blessed Wolf, you'd think he'd have a higher affinity for being able to sense good and bad timing.

But let's not even get into it.

Hell, as the Moon Blessed Wolf who can perform SLEEPING spells, you'd think he knows when someone is asleep.

More importantly, how they'd be when they first wake up.

But once again, I digress. I'm in a bitchy mood. I can at least admit that...to myself.

"I think I can sense my mate! You know I've being trying for a few decades now!" He says jumping up and down slightly with each word.

Okay, that's kinda of adorable. If he did in fact find his mate, then I'm happy for him, truly.

With the way that he's acting now, that mate of his is gonna have him wrapped and whipped.

"I just wanted to see if my powers could sense or even reach my mate. And I'm more than positive I got something this time!" He says with a wide smile.

Despite his behavior now, Triton isn't one to wear his emotions on face or sleeve. He's more of the stoic type.

Unless he's around me.

I couldn't stop myself from rolling my eyes, trying to hide my own smile in the process.

It's nice to see him genuinely happy about something. It's a rarity.

I opened my mouth to congratulate him, but I immediately snapped it shut when a strange feeling began coursing through me.

It's hard to really put it into, because I've never felt something like this before.

I've had my fair share of feelings to deal with, but I just can't pinpoint this one. It's strong and it's got a little spicyness to it.

There it is.

A faint connection. Distant, but it's there.

It's like a string that's been stretched around the earth several billions times.

I'm tethered to something. Or...someone.

It's more than that though. I can feel my powers wanting to flare and go out of control at this strange connection.

I know very well what it could be, but I'm don't want to get my hopes up, only to have them be crushed if I'm wrong.

I'd rather be pessimistic and wrong. My mood can only improve at that point.

My powers wanting to flare was a dead giveaway. It was really the only hint needed.

Beyond our own command, a mate was the only thing that could cause our powers to flare and spike against our will.
