I had been walking around Memphis for about three hours now, and the two bottles of Casamigos that I had drank while walking around Memphis were now empty and my entire body felt tingly.
My mind was fuzzy, but all I could think about were two things: my father and Amour and Nadia.
I wondered how she was doing, but I also wanted to go back to the hotel, find my father and tell him about himself because I was honestly and truly sick and tired of how he was treating Amour.
Seeing as though my father hated to see me drink, be drunk, or being hungover, I decided against going back up to the hotel room. I sat down at the next bench that I could find and sat down, pulling my phone out and clicking on Nadia's contact.
My heart began beating from out of my chest as the phone rang a few times. Once it got to the third ring, I contemplated hanging up...me sitting here and watching the phone ring only seemed to add onto my anxiety and topsy turvy attitude that I was having due to the liquor, but quickly, the phone picked up and my enthusiasm kicked in and suddenly, I was hopeful.
"Hello?" Nadia's voice came through the phone.
I smiled at the sound of her voice and ran my hands over my light brown curls. "Nadia, wassup?"
"Deuce...it's like one in the morning." she groaned.
"I-I know, but...I guess I just wanted to talk to you because I..." I trailed off, rubbing my eyes then pinching the bridge of my nose.
Nadia sounded as if she had shifted around and let out a tired sigh mixed with a yawn. "Because you what Deuce?"
"Because...I miss you." I admitted. "I miss you. I really want to pick things up where we left and—."
"Deuce, stop," Nadia said as if she were suddenly awake. "This is not what we're about to do. I meant what I said when we were 18; things between you and I...we aren't compatible anymore. Our dreams pull us in different directions—plus, I have a boyfriend Deuce."
A boyfriend? A boyfriend?
"A-A boyfriend? Oh...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called." I mumbled.
Heartbreak: 2 , Deuce: 0
Nadia sighed. "Deuce, come on we can still be coo—."
"Nah, it's cool." I said quickly then hung up, sliding the phone back into my pocket.
Back to the hotel it is.
"DEUCE! DEUCE!" the sound of my cousin's voices made me turn my head and groan, seeing my cousins walking down the street towards me. Jesus Christ.
"What the hell were you thinking?" London said, shoving my shoulder. "It's late as hell! Anything could've happened to you!"
"I'm fine." I slurred, scratching my head.
Malachi's eyes zeroed in on the bottles in my hand, and glared at me, slapping the two bottles from out of my hands. "Nigga you been drinking? What the fuck is wrong with you! Your dad is going to kill y—."
"Man fuck him!" I shouted. "If my father really gon' do something, he would've done it by now. He's a bitch."
"You need to relax," Harmonie says, grabbing my arm and helping me walk in a straight line down the street. "That is your father and your letting your anger talk through your liquid courage."
