Three Weeks Later...
HARMONIE ELISE POOLE

"I'm telling you Harmonie, it's best to have the trip this weekend!" Jelena urged. "The weather is going to be perfectly fine and I convinced my parents to rent out a nice cabin for us all!"

"Jelena, I hear you," I said as we approached my locker. "I've heard you for the past three minutes, and I agree."

"Oh..." Jelena said. "Sorry."

Letting out a sigh of relief, I opened my locker and gasped when pink, white, and yellow roses came tumbling out of it and landed at my feet. "What the heck?"

Out of the blue—literally—one of my favorite songs from my favorite Disney movie, I See The Light from Tangled began playing and all eyes were on me in the hallway. Phones were pointed in my direction and I suddenly felt like I was going to pass out.

"What the hell is going on..." I whispered to Jelena. She shrugged her shoulders and looked around, feeling just as confused as I was. "The hell if I know."

Just as the confusion was settling in deeper, it was quickly washed away when I saw Mikah walking towards me with a huge bouquet of pink and white roses in his hands along with a pink teddy bear and a gift bag in his hands.

My jaw dropped in pure shock once he reached me and gave me his signature dimpled smile that made me weak in the knees and blush.

It was moments like this where I was glad that I was brown-skin.

"Harmonie Poole, you're the best friend I've ever had, and even though we've known each other for what? Almost a month, you've definitely grown on me, and I know that I already asked you, but I wanted to ask you the correct way..."

"The correct way?" I repeated, feeling as if my knees were going to give out at any given moment.

Mikah nodded. "Yes, the correct way." he chuckled, his smile growing wider.

"Oh." I mumbled, my smile coming forth.

Mikah laughed and shrugged his shoulders. "So, Harmonie, will you please do me the honor of being my date to the Spring Formal?"

"Of course." I say with a delighted giggle.

Everyone in the hall cheered and surrounded us, their phones flashing and shouting their congratulations at us as Mikah pulled me into a tight hug, causing for people to cheer even louder while some teachers told us to get to class because the late bell had already rang.

Once Mikah and I had pulled away, he handed me the flowers, teddy bear and gift bag, all of which I placed inside of my locker so that I could open everything later once I had gotten home.

Now I really couldn't wait to tell my parents.

Lunch Time...

"So, Harmonie," Adrian said in a sing-song voice. "I heard your were asked to the dance and that you're going with Mikah Bridges."

I nodded my head, unable to stop the smile from spreading across my face. "Yep," I said happily. "I can't wait to tell my parents. But most of all, I can't wait to go dress shopping."

"Now you know damn well JP is going to lose the mind that God gave him." Canon chuckled as he bit into a fry.

"My dad is just gonna have to get over himself," I said with a shrug. "I'm about to be seventeen in May. He has got to stop the whole hovering thing."
