It was late evening when the arrest warrant for David Kirk was granted, and the police went to his work place; "David Kirk, I'm arresting on the murders of all the criminals, and for the murders of Danielle Wolfe and Tommy Lynley. You have the right to remain or if you do not mention something when questioned, which you later rely on in court. If you do not have an attorney one will be provided for you by the police department." Says George as he reads David his rights.
David is angry and verbally bad mouths them for wrongly accusing him of murders, after arriving at the police station, George and Jill interview David with his lawyer, Louis Johnson present.
"Now then, David we have critical evidence that ties you to these murders. Your fingerprints were found at the cabin and on the files of the victims who were killed."
"What cabin?" David interrupted but George and Jill weren't convinced of his innocence. "David, as I believe, you were convicted of three previous murders which were Danielle's parents and grandma. You murdered Elizabeth Wolfe in front of Danielle who was literally terrified, you have or rather had an unhealthy obsession with her as we found a room in your parents house filled with pictures of Danielle."
"I'm sorry, what? I was married to Danielle and yes I abused her, but as for an unhealthy obsession that wasn't me! That was someone else."
"Then explain to us why your fingerprints were in that room and on the pen and wallpaper that was used to tear wallpaper and used to hide a message about Danielle being yours forever." George explained as Louis looked on at the evidence presented to him. David denied it, "I swear that is not me, I don't know how my fingerprints even got in that room but I did not have an unhealthy obsession with Danielle. As I have admitted, yes I abused her relentlessly and made her life a living hell, and I killed her family but that unhealthy obsession wasn't me."
Nevertheless, George charged him with the murders of Danielle Wolfe and Tommy Lynley as well as the murders of the victims that were killed for their sins. David tried to plead with them but he was taken to the cells and he kicked the wall in frustration, "That unhealthy obsession wasn't even me!" He said to himself as he sat down on the bed.
A few hours later time freezes as David remains unfrozen; "Exactly where you belong!" Said a voice from behind him, he turned round to see his and Danielle's eldest son, David Charles (also portrayed by David Tennant), standing a few feet away from the cell. "Are you setting me up, son?"
"I'm not your son! You gave up that right when you forced me and my siblings' to watch what you did to our mother, and now she's dead because of you. Enjoy your time in prison because it won't be pleasant, you're a coward David."
"I am your father, and you will not speak to me in that tone."
"I'll talk to you however I like, considering how you spoke to us. Goodbye David, the time has come to face your sins unless my grandfather chooses to torture you into submission. Either way, we will beat you David." Explained David Charles to his father before disappearing and time unfreezes, David sits back down on the bed having realised that his own children had turned on him.
Shane receives an email from the technician who is reviewing David's phone, and finds evidence. "Ma'am take a look at this. David knew about the cheating that had occurred between Danielle and Abigail.."
"He filmed it!"
"Not only that Ma'am, but he was there at the Lynley Estate on the same night that Tommy and his parents were killed. He did say to George that he was glad that Tommy was dead because now Tommy couldn't get in his way to get Danielle back."
"The bastard planned it all! He knew exactly what he wanted and now Danielle is dead but he wants her back, the death penalty, he wants the court to find him guilty and give him the death penalty. He's gonna try and get Danielle back in the afterlife!" Jill said figuring out David's plan, so they all set about making sure he's found guilty but make sure that he gets life imprisonment without the possibility of parole and to be placed under suicide watch.
*Eight months later*
It had been eight months since David's trial began at the old Bailey, the prosecution team had tons of evidence against David, and had presented what an evil man he was. When the jury came back with a verdict, David tried to sway the judge (also played by Martin Shaw) to give him the death penalty if he was found guilty. However, the judge smirked and listened to the foreman of the jury, they found him guilty on all the murders but requested that David be given life in prison rather than the death penalty which angers David.
The judge agreed and sentenced him to life in prison, the guards took him down with the police relieved. David is transported to prison and is placed under suicide watch for life as they have been informed that he will attempt suicide if left unwatched by the police in prison.
Meanwhile, we are taken to the London Met as George looks at a picture of Danielle and him, he smiles and then gets up to leave the station. We are then taken to Danielle's house where Bernie baking cookies, as Serena is outside looking thoughtful into the distance.
She gets up to walk away, but she stops and turns round and directly addresses the audience with a smirk on her face. Her eyes glow gold as she speaks twelve words; "You didn't think this was the end of the story, did you?" She says before punching the air with a fist sound heard as the screen goes black and then the credits roll as the song "Killer Queen" by Queen plays over.
