Soleil POV

"Hoping to see you at the crime scene," her voice says in my head. I don't know what crime scene she's talking about, but I certainly hope to see her as well. Wondering if I can talk to her too, I try asking: "Selina? What are we? Who are you to me?"

I think she didn't hear me. Maybe I can't do this. I walk around the headquarters mindlessly, trying to remember at least something about her. I walk quietly through the currently empty park, which is normally used for training new recruits, and relax in solitude. Thinking about her warms my heart and makes me feel happy. Were we friends? Something more?

Holding the wolf statuette in my pocket tightly, I stop by the bench and sit down. I close my eyes, thinking about my childhood and high school years. I can remember my family clearly, all my classmates... But there are memories that are blurred. There's some holes in my memory. It's like someone... erased all of my memories with Selina. Why would anyone do that?

I gasp in realization. Was it Mr. Munin? Why would he do this? Is Selina dangerous? No, that can't be true... What happened to me those months ago when I first entered this headquarters? I open my eyes and stand up quickly. I start running towards the castle. I need to see her! I have to go on the mission! I open the door and see a team of hunters already preparing to leave.

I immediately recognize my team. Shit! I'm late... "Get your equipment and get in line, soldier!" my captain yells right next to my ear. Ouch... "I apologize, captain," I take my equipment and join the rest of the team.

A bunch of black cars stop next to us. I sit at the back, next to the window, and look outside, holding the statuette in my pocket. See you soon, Selina, I think to myself. Surprisingly, I get an answer. "See you, ma Soleil." I smile lightly, covering my mouth with my hand as we near the crime scene.

Selina POV

After my conversation with Gaia and Sigfrid, I went to Klaus, and we quickly assembled a team to go investigate the attacks.

Before departing, I take a blood bag and quickly drink it, grumbling when I realise I grabbed Soleil's blood type. Soleil... I miss you so much... I finish getting ready and join the other guardians, but something makes me stop in my tracks.

"See you soon, Selina." I almost drop the bag I took to go in surprise. I haven't heard her voice in so long. "See you, ma Soleil," I respond to her immediately, my emotions almost getting the best of me.

I almost run to the exit, suddenly feeling stupidly excited knowing that I'll get to see her. "Wow, girl! What's gotten you so excited?" Klaus asks. I put my poker face back on and scowl at him. "Nothing." But on the inside, I feel extremely happy, almost like a teenage girl going out with her crush- Jeez, pull yourself together. You're going on a mission.

Klaus gives us the last orders, and we take off. Since the place isn't that far, we're just going to run there. I know there's a battle waiting for us, but my excitement grows with every kilometre.

When we arrive there, we already spot SIMP hunters fighting the, as Gaia assumed, rogue vampires. Two are already dead, with stakes protruding out of their torsoes, the hunters are currently fighting the remaining three.

I stay a bit behind, searching for Soleil. There she is! My heart starts beating faster when I notice her standing on the side, looking conflicted about joining the fight.

With a gentle smile on my lips, I sneak over to her and pat her on the back gently. "Soleil," I call her softly. She flinches and pulls out the stake, but drops it when she sees me.

I stay alert, not knowing what her reaction might be. "Hey. Do you remember me?" I start carefully. She is looking at me a bit warily, but she relaxes after a few moments. "A bit. Sorry," she says with one of her cute, sheepish smiles.

"What are we?" She asks me awkwardly. What do I answer her? Friends? You have a crush on me? Almost lovers?

Soleil POV

Suddenly, a battle cry breaks our conversation. One of the vampires jumps towards me. I start panickedly looking around for my stake. I see it a few steps away and close my eyes, expecting a painful hit.

But someone shoves me away, and the moment I open my eyes, the vampire is lying on the floor, and Selina is standing above him. "You dumbfuck! That's my Soleil!" I look at her, flabergasted at such a bold statement. It feels familiar though.

The vampire gets back on his feet and runs away. Selina turns back to me and gives me a small smile. "Don't worry. I'll protect you." I feel my heart skip a beat. The way she's looking at me makes me hope we're more than friends.

Looking at her makes me smile. I repeat my question, now a bit more confidently: "What are you to me?" She grins smugly and I find myself drawn to her more and more, my focus solely on Selina, despite the battle wilding around us.

She chuckles lowly before flashing a charming smile: "No clue, but you're the love of my life." I'm left speechless and only open and close my mouth in disbelief. But I also feel my cheeks burning.

I take a step closer to her and reach out with my hand. She carefully extends her arm as well and I intertwine our fingers. "Soleil?" she asks, her voice full of hope. I lift my gaze and make eye contact with her.

But suddenly a pain shoots through my head and I fall down on my knees. "Soleil!" Memories start flashing before my eyes. My first meeting with Selina after the plane crash. Spraining my ankle and her carrying me all the way home when we were 13. She dyeing her hair blonde and me gaypanicking intensely. Us buying a car together. Her saving me from a creep on the dark alleyway. Me buying her the statuette. Us running away from the hunters and them capturing me. I remember everything!

The pain is slowly subsiding, I feel Selina's arms supporting me and hear her worried voice calling out to me. I get up and look at her reasuringly. "Soleil?" I laugh wholeheartedly. "Selina... I-I remember you. I remember everything."

She hugs me quickly, but sighs after: "I'm so sorry I let them capture you. It's all my fault." I cup her cheek and smile softly. "No, Selina... It's not your fault. Besides, I'm here right now. I missed you so much. And seeing you again makes me so so so happy. You're amazing." I scratch her head lovingly. "I missed you too, ma Soleil," she kisses the crown of my head before looking into my eyes again.

She has the most beautiful smile I've ever seen on her lips now. "Come with me, Soleil. I'm never letting you go again." I smile up at her lovingly. "I'm not going anywhere, ever. I love y-"

Selina POV

Suddenly Soleil falls towards me. I embrace her protectively and see a tiny arrow proturding from her back, then look up at the culprit. I growl in rage at the two hunters running our way.

I remove the injection-like arrow and carefully place Soleil on the ground, standing up before her. "If any of you approach her, I'll make sure that's the last mistake you've ever made in your sorry lifes," I warn them, my voice low and threatening.

I stare at the two hunters carefully, watching their every move, but suddenly feel a wooden arrow pierce my torso from the back, really close to the heart.

I hiss in pain and jump towards the shooter, digging my hand into his chest and tearing his heart out. When I turn around my blood boils at the sight of the other two hunters preparing to pick Soleil up.

I feel strength leaving my body because of the arrow. I gotta finish them quickly. I jump to the hunters and kick the first one, but he blocks and we end up exchanging punches until I can hardly block his attacks. The other one takes Soleil into his arms, which makes me growl furiously. "Fucking scum! Put her down!"

With my last ounce of strength I catch the hunter's fist before it could hit me and slam him into a nearby wall, running towards the one carrying Soleil away. But he's too fast to catch in my current state. My vision starts getting blurry as I fall to the ground. "No... Soleil..."

I reach towards them with my hand, in that moment someone picks me up and carries me away. "No, Klaus! I need to save her..." He sighs and says something, I don't hear it as my eyelids close against my will.
