Selina POV
"She's been like this for a week. It's sad seeing her in this state," I can hear Gaia sigh on the other side of the door. Did she forget I can hear her? A whisper, probably Sigfrid's, answers her. "Do you think that would be a rational choice?" Another whisper. "We can't just let her go there in that state!" Gaia exclaims.
What is it again? Leave me alone, you two. I sigh in exasperation. "If we go and infiltrate SIMP headquarters without her, she won't forgive us!" Sigfrid whisper-yells.
They are going to do what!? I jump from my bed and open the door forcefully, almost breaking it. "We're attacking SIMP!?" Sigfrid gives Gaia a pointed look, and she rolls her eyes. "You aren't in a state to fight, Selina." I look at her with fire in my eyes.
Sigfrid coughs and averts our attention. "If you had actually listened to me, you'd have known that we need to train more vampires for the anti-brainwashing part of our mission first. It's going to take another week or two."
Gaia waves her hand dismissively: "I did listen. I just didn't remember the time you said that, alright? Time doesn't exist." And here comes another one of their philosophical banters... Who would've thought Gaia was into philosophy upon seeing her. Sigfrid scoffs: "But last time when I was late with my report, you said it does." She replies in a heartbeat: "No, I said that your perception of time was different than mine."
I let their bickering fade into the background and think of Soleil. I miss teasing her so much. My mind wanders away to the memories of her, until a hand on my shoulder brings me back. "Hey? Are you alright?" I shake my head and attempt a smile. "Yeah, yeah. It's just that your bickering brought back some memories..."
"Oh, sorry..." Gaia scratches her neck sheepishly. "We're used to doing it so much we don't even notice sometimes." Sigfrid chims in, changing the topic: "Anyways, Selina, you want to learn anti-brainwashing techniques?" I nod instantly and follow Sigfrid to his lab.
---------------
I'm currently standing in the throne room, watching Sigfrid report to Gaia about his anti-brainwashing team: "We've officially gathered enough forces, we also tested the efficiency of our anti-brainwashing technique, which is basically just infiltrating the hunters' mind and freeing their mind from vampire's influence..."
Gaia interrupts, looking a bit bored: "Yeah, yeah, please continue the report." Sigfrid looks a bit annoyed but relents: "We tested it on a couple of hunters we've captured on the previous mission. It's proven efficient."
Gaia stands up from the throne: "It's settled then. We're ready to launch our attack. We're leaving at twilight." With that, the vampires in the throne room disperse and start preparing the troops. I'm coming, Soleil.
----------------
Apparently, vampires can change shape. "Why didn't anyone tell me before?!" Sigfrid replies: "Well, It's not very practical since we can only use that at night. And it takes a looot of energy... So it's basically forbidden in our clan unless Gaia permits it." I look at him, confused: "Is it that hard?"
"Not really, we've had some dead vampires because of it, though... To change shape a lot of life's essence - blood, obviously - is used. And vampires can't function without it. Here." He hands me another blood bag. "Hey, you two! We're leaving! Sigfrid, you're driving!" Gaia yells from her spot next to a large, bat-shaped jet. Sigfrid mutters something to himself and sets off, me in tow.
The jet is so big that there are definitely about a hundred vampires inside. While we're flying towards the SIMP headquarters, Klaus gives us the last few orders: "The jet will turn around a couple hundred meters before reaching the HQ, from there we'll be flying on our own. Troops 1a and 2a will capture their leaders, while the rest of the troops will gather the brainwashed hunters so we can lead them out of the HQ. Sigfrid is going to land on the decided location and wait for us there."
