A week passed by since Molly had last spoken to Sal and Larry. Thanksgiving break was now officially over, which was very relieving for Molly. She couldn't wait to get out of her dreadful apartment. During that week, she thought about what Sal had said to her. There were many times where she just wanted to grab her basement key card and see the two of them. The week was rough for her, since she always had to deal with her cruel fathers wrath. But for some reason, she always talked herself out of it. She couldn't help but think that the two boys just helped her out that one day because they felt sorry for her. She also couldn't help but feel like a burden.Since today was now Monday, Molly got up early like usual and left for school before anyone woke up. Molly quietly shut her front door quietly after she exited, trying to ensure that none of her family members woke up. When Molly turned around, she was surprised to see Sal standing there. Molly jumped when she saw him, since his presence was completely unexpected.
"Fuck!" Molly yelled as she put her hand over her now racing heart. She then took a deep breath once she realized that she was in no danger. "Sorry, you scared me!" She whispered to Sal.
Sal couldn't help but laugh at Molly's reaction to him... His eyes also had panned down on her for a moment, and noticed that she was actually wearing the coat he gave to her last week. The coat was a bit too big on her, and it stopped right above the knee and the sleeves scrunched at the wrists, since Sal was taller than her (surprisingly enough). He found himself liking the way she looked in his jacket, he melted a bit inside and found it pretty sweet. "Sorry, MJ. I guess I shouldn't have snuck up on you, huh?"
"Guess not!" Molly laughs. "What are you doing up so early anyways?"
Sal takes a nervous deep breath at this question. He shoved his hands into his pockets and started to sway his body back and forth on his toes and heels like a child. "Well... I- Uh- I was going to... I was going to wait for you to come out, and ask if you maybe wanted to walk to school together?"
Molly smirks at sal as she thinks for a second. She usually walks to one of the richer houses in the neighborhood so that her 'friends' can pick her up. But today, Molly got the odd gut feeling that she should ditch those idiotic people and hangout with Sal instead. "Sure, why not?" Molly says to Sal as she starts to walk down the hallway with him. "Also, were you just planning on waiting outside of my door until I came outside?" She chuckles.
"Oh, um..." Sal says as he starts to turn red, you can see his redness just by looking at his ears. Molly already saw right through him. "Kind of. I don't get much sleep, so I'm always up early. I figured I could just wait by your door and see if you wanted to walk together." He shrugs as he holds open Addison Apartments creaky front door for her.
Molly nods her head, letting him know that she understands as they walk down the sidewalk together. She can't help but think ever so curiously about what made him decide to now come to her door. Why not during the entire week break they had from school? Why now? "I thought you usually walk to school with your friends?"
Sal nods, "I do usually, yeah... But I noticed a while ago, when you almost got hit by that car, that you walk alone. I figured since we're friends now, we can just walk together instead." Sal shrugs again. "You know, so that I can make sure you don't get hit by a car." Sal teases as he nudges Molly playfully in the arm. But the truth was, Sal was actually quite fascinated by Molly. He thought about her nonstop all week. He too contemplated on knocking on Molly's door and checking in on her. But judging by the way her father and grandmother treat her; he just wasn't sure if it would be a good idea or not. He figured that an early time like this, before school, possibly before any of her family members were awake, would be the best time to see her. Plus the whole 'let's walk to school together' thing is a pretty good excuse.
